. Dave Brandon only understands how to make money, he doesn’t understand how to do the other half of the job, hiring the right men to lead the Michigan athletic programs. It’s the classic sales vs. product problem. You can only market so much without a solid product, Dave Brandon is cooked.

This type of problem is prevalent throughout College Athletics at this point. To many Universities are caught looking at the money and how to squeeze every ounce of money from their respective fan base while forgetting why College athletics (in particular Football) have been so popular through the years.

The two names surfacing in the AD hunt are Ward Manuel the AD at Uconn and Brad Bates, the current AD at Boston College.

Ward Manuel. Very good man. Was AD at Buffalo when they made that little run.

From New Orleans, played football at Brother Martin High then for Michigan. You could do a lot worse, IMHO.

I thought pizza guy would fire Hoke to save his tail and try to use his business savvy to hire a Harbaugh. I honestly think ex football coaches are better ADs than business guys.

Gregg Henson is an interesting guy. I kind of liked him on Detroit radio, but he was just an a-hole to everybody and thought he was the Howard Stern of the area. People from Austin can chime in on this, but he apparently burned Austin sports radio to the ground for a while. Then he owned a smoothie stand or something. I'm sure he still has some connections in the area, but he has thrown our juicy stuff like this before that did not materialize. Take with a block of salt.

I hope the Niners implode this year.

If Michigan got Harbaugh that would be awesome for college football.

Miles to Michigan - that's just stupid.

Miles to Michigan - that's just stupid. They already have Hoke. Don't need another Midwest shite recruiter.

Why would Jim come to LSU? He passed on USC and Texas. He will get a shot at another NFL team for way more money then LSU can give him and if he even thought of returning to college it would be his school...Michigan.

Fun dream though.

You get it....too bad most ADs do not. Lord knows this is one of the biggest issues at Texas that people complain about.

Truly the dumbest thing ever written on the MSB.

If Miles was not the recruiter he is, he'd be coaching JV ball somewhere by now.

So, I read the story, and this stuck out to me:

quote:

Yes, the days are dark in Ann Arbor for Michigan football, but it appears Bo’s boys are coming home to right the ship.

Both had ties to Schembechler, which makes me further confident that they'll never again be a major player in college football until they get away with this delusion that everyone they hire for AD or football coach needs to have a tie to the program or to Schembechler.
