Sources: Darrell Bevell fired as Seahawks offensive coordinator after seven seasons

quote:

The Seattle Seahawks have parted ways with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell after seven seasons, sources tell PFT. Bevell was told of the decision Tuesday night according to a source informed of the decision. The Seahawks missed the playoffs for the first time since Bevell’s first year in Seattle in 2011.

I still believe the only reason they called thst play was so it could be “Russell Wilson’s Super Bowl- winning throw.”

But it wasn’t.

Hard to tell if he deserved this given how bad that Oline was

Yet their Oline coach gets media praise and HC interviews

I still believe that throwing was the right call. It was 2nd down and they had 1 timeout. Throw the ball.

If you don't get it you have both the run and pass available to you on 3rd and 4th down because of the timeout.

The offensive line was a mess all year, and the running game was non-existent—Wilson’s 589 yards on the ground led the team by more than 300 yards.

If you go 4 downs your going to have to throw it at some point. 2nd down was the right down to throw on but the wrong throw. Throw a safe throw behind the line of scrimmage, preferably to Lynch on a dump off.

Pete not calling a timeout there when everyone on his sideline was running around like a chicken head cut off is still bananas to me.

the problem wasnt the throw. you were going to have to throw it at lease once more on 2nd down with one timeout, the problem was the type of throw and wilson tried to force the ball to an option that wasnt even scoring if he caught the ball

Meh.

Malcom Butler made an amazing play, as did Browner.

Exactly. Passing on 2nd down was 100% the right call. It isn't even a question.

Now that throw...that was a problem, and butler made a great play.

But the mouthbreathers questioning throwing in that situation don't understand situational football.

Sad thing is if he throws it to Lynch it's a walk in TD. Throwing to the middle of the field with all that congestion was a bad idea from the start.

This stats is used to make Russell Wilson a champ while making the OLine look bad.

Seahawks avg 101 yds a game on the ground. The reason RW seem to “do all the rushing” is because most of the RBs was hurt mists of the season. It’s easy to lead the team in rushing as a QB when no RB had 70 carries all year. Rawls, Carson, Lacy, prosise, Davis, mckissic. They all got a little piece of the action. And if you take away RW rushing production, Seahawks still have over 1K rushing for the season.

Lol wut

Lynch isn’t open at all on the play. If anything it would’ve been a pick 6 if he tried to dump it off to Lynch with the LB breaking on him.

Agreed. It would have to be a perfect lob pass to get it over the defender's arms but before the sideline. Long way from a walk in TD.
