Who owns the PGA Tour? Who has been pocketing all this cash all these years. The way it sounds the Tour has a bunch of greedy owners that are finally giving up some of their cash.

Great question. Likely nothing nefarious. Letting the players access the books would solve this.

It’s a simple question Mingo
Do you think this board would feel the same way if the Saudis started a rival football league and started offering nfl players huge contracts to go?
I won’t wait for an answer because I know you won’t give one
I know this wasn't directed to me and I don't feel strongly about it either way, but this is kind of a dumb comparison. Not even talking about the amount of people it would take to leave and even form a quality football product, but the NFL has a players union. A union that represents all players looking out for their benefit in wages, hours, working conditions and just looks out for them in general. PSA tour players don't have a say in crap and nobody looking out for their best interests.
The PGA just plucked 160 million out of their pocket overnight like it was nothing because they see what it's costing them from being cheap asses and not caring about taking care of the people who make them money. The PGA rakes in money and throws scraps at the players.

They didn’t just “pluck money out of their pocket”
They recently signed a 700 million dollar deal that increased revenue

If that means the next great young QB in the NFL can get a $75M/yr contract, sure.
You do understand who pays for these and all pro athlete contracts right?
The fans, whether direct or indirect, end up paying for it all.

That's what Phil said.
The PGA is actually its own entity. So, “No one”, is really the legal answer. That basically means the players don't own the PGA. They are declared "non-profit " So they get tax-exempted status with our government. So where does the wealth generated go?
In short: the PGA distributes its incomes to its beneficiaries, thus maintaining non-profit status.

There are non-profit tax forms that detail a lot of the finances to a certain extent

Just ignore the NFL comparison reply that you thought couldn't be answered
Edit: Also, that revenue deal doesn't change the fact that they are being cheap, that just makes it more obvious.

The tour average earnings last year was 1.5 million.
Let's not act like these guys are making nothing.
But the fact remains they are free to go where the money is.

By recently you mean like a year ago right?
I guess it's just a huge coincidence that the changing of the schedule and huge purse no cut events from that revenue (that they of course didn't project years ago because why would a billion dollar business do that) just so happened to be figured out at the same time as players leaving for LIV.
Crazy how the timing on that!

The PGA tour is being so cheap they are paying out and higher pct of revenue than any other major sports league….
And I have seen you mention “they don’t have to pay owners”. True. However, those owners in the sports leagues get to make tons of profit of the team logos, images, etc built of the players backs.
That element doesn’t really exist for golf as a revenue stream.

So you want to tell us that the lower half of everyone with a PGA card is making 1.5 million? The tour is extremely top-heavy. The rich are getting richer and the average Joe playing this game needs a raise, badly.

You are so fricking stupid it's unreal. Or so pathelogically concerned with being "right."
Im not sure which is worse but either way, seek help

O no, I'm not saying they don't make good money. It's just relative to what they could be making.
I honestly feel bad for the caddies more than anyone. In particular if you're caddying for a tour player that is struggling or doesn't consistently make the cut or hasn't had many high finishes, you have a crappy job. And it doesn't have to be that way, the PGA could pick up expenses that would make things easier on them.
It's the struggling players and caddies that get hit the hardest. You're one of the top 200 players in the world in a sport that it is incredibly incredibly hard to become one of the top 200 or so players and you make 150k. What is your caddie making
I dont care about the LIV. I do think they are going to be successful and continue to bring over quality players and names though. But they exposed the PGA in an embarrassing way and now the PGA is scrambling.

Comparing unionized, for profit, team sports to professional golf is idiotic.
Which I thought you were smart enough to understand 2 weeks ago.

I've never said that. These past few comments are the first time I've commented in 10 pages.
