Not even close. Not trying to be a dick. Returns don’t scratch the surface of the financials of a non-profit.

Well you need to yell at the top players then, because that ain’t what they are fighting for

The superstar runs sports. There was a legit reason CBS kept the camera on Bryson, even when he was 10 over. Sports are generated by stars. Nothing wrong with these movers and shakers wanting more. They deserve it.

Also nothing wrong with these guys on the end of the food line making more. It is America.

Here's more bad news for PGA players. Monahan said in their new business model there would only be 70 PGA players getting into the FedEx Cup Playoff each year instead of the normal 125. He also stated that those 70 players would automatically keep their PGA Card status.

That should make even more of the average Joe's playing on the tour very happy and hungry, literally.

The tour average earnings last year was 1.5 million. Let's not act like these guys are making nothing. But the fact remains they are free to go where the money is.

Very top heavy. The guy who finished 150 will make 500-600k pay his own expenses for an entire year and be relegated the the korn ferry tour. It’s still a great life and the deal is the deal. But a lot of these guys aren’t flying private and staying at the ritz. Go to a Courtyard near a tournament and you will have 20 players staying in your hotel.

The PGA tour is being so cheap they are paying out and higher pct of revenue than any other major sports league….

They don’t have any owners, though….if you include the owners cut…

Ok deal. Let’s also not include all the revenue those other sports then make off the players jerseys, likeness, etc that they greedily hoard as well

PGA players get to have their own personal sponsors and everything while they are playing their sport. A benefit to their non employment status

You do understand who pays for these and all pro athlete contracts right?

The fans, whether direct or indirect, end up paying for it all.

Since we're actually talking about golf... no. The Saudi's do

Do you have the intellectual honesty to admit they should thank the players who left for their eight no-cut, $25M purse tournaments?

Woh. If true, that is a really really bad decision. You want to know how to lose guys that battle to keep their cards? Make it twice as hard to keep a card. Why wouldn’t someone that consistently finishes 100-150 bolt? Korn ferry making 100k or LIV making 150k to finish last 8 times a year? Holy crap Monohan is insane. Pride….no way you are ok with this comment by Jay, right?

You can thank LIV for that. LIV hs ushered in golfs top echelon taking more of the pie, and those others fighting for scraps

True. Other athletes have sponsors. Just not on their bag or hat.

This is the product of your LIV man. Where are they going to bolt too? LIV isn’t going to have spots for these mid tier or lower tier players for very long if more talent leaves the PGA tour. Those guys currently are just placeholders

LIV is about paying top guys big purses. Trim the fat. The PGA is now competing with that

Why would LIV cause the tour to cut guaranteed cards from 125 to 70? Are the fields going to be smaller? That would thin the field much more than a few dozen going to LIV. If that is your big issue, you should be condemning Monohan for making that move. I can’t imagine that is actually the move. Why would they cut the field?

The PGA came out today to verify that 55 fewer PGA players each year would qualify for the playoff and not automatically keep their card. What a powerful reply to LIV.

Because the goal of LIV, and now the goal of the PGA, is to put more money in the top guys hands. This has never been about the guys fighting for their card or to stay afloat. Sorry if you thought it was

As they should.

And top 70 is just for fully exempt status, not that the facts matter

Dont disagree. Just seems like some people are a little caught of guard eh Mingo? Like they thought this endeavor was about helping the little man on the PGA tour.

If lsupride87 were honest he would be applauding thid move as it creates more of a meritocracy, helping to ensure the best players get the most playing opportunities and thus improving the product.

But he's not, so...

How Jay Monahan divides all this newfound wealth among their tour is his business. It's his NEW business model. But LIV has to be laughing their fannies off.

Where did I say I don’t like the move?
I hated the idea of it being just 8 additional money grabs. But incorporating it with being fully exempt and using mainly existing tournaments? I love it

I love it. I just wish the extra tournaments had a cut. Really make that big purse interesting
