The 8 PGA events aren’t going to be 54 hole tournaments….

I actually think the PGA tour should let the LIV guys get OWGR points so fans and peers can see them fall down the rankings with less reps.

And those players will be playing in every event.

& how is that different than the 50 top PGA players playing in 8 ($20M purse) events?

this is exactly why these threads go 10+ pages... you keep saying the same thing. We get it.

You don't think 54 hole, no-cut, invitational events should be awarded OWGR pts.

I'm not sure what you are getting at. My comment has nothing to do with those tournaments. But since you mentioned it, do you think those tournaments would have happened without LIV?

Using a sample size of one in a completely different setup of tournament in a sport like golf is v v smart

So you don't think playing overseas the week before the major had anything to do with some of those results? It's also why some are not joining the tour until the 2nd tournament.

I have yet to hear anyone discuss growing the game,

Most of the golfers did during the press conference before the first LIV tournament.

I did not see it nor was I especially tuned into it. Just saw DeChambeau's quote and an interview with Norman.

The only thing that bothers me about this is the insistent whining, and to me it is whining, that Rory, JT and Monahan have done.

Norman skewered Monahan in an interview I saw on Fox, but he was smart by not making it personal.

The OWGR is an objective metric used for qualifying into tournaments and actually ranking the players.

How are FedEx cup points not objective? Do they give better players more points for winning than they do lesser known players?

And don't FedEx cup points determine which tournaments you qualify to play at the end of the PGA Tour season?

They're both just mathematical algorithms and systems which determine who qualifies for different golf events

You may not care for the FedEx Cup (neither do I fwiw) but that doesn't change that it's no more made up than the OWGR. Also, qualifying for the Tour Championship (based on FedEx Cup points) gets you an exemption to play in the Masters, the US open, and the British Open, so it serves a lot of the same purposes for players as does OWGR

Norman called Rory brainwashed for sticking with the PGA tour. He has made it personal. The entire thing is very personal for Norman

I think it definitely had an impact on their scores, but I think the thought that they’ll be less motivated to work on their games will be true as well with as much $ as they’ve been given.

I could be wrong on that 2nd part though.

Imagine how bad the results will be after a couple years of playing 54 hole exhibition tourneys 8 times a year and practicing less.

And the only warm up the will get for THE open is a 54 hole tournament two weeks before in Oregon….

So that isn’t changing

So all the LIV guys besides the couple playing in Munich get

the Us open

A 54 hole tournament in Oregon, and then the Open

Not exactly much there to get them sharp

No they aren't. Seriously, did you know anything, like a single thing, about golf before two weeks ago? Or are you furiously googling everytime something is brought up?

Because you are wrong again.

You sure are stuck on that. I'm guessing you are not a competitive person. Tiger, Jack, etc. sure stopped being competitive after getting their money.

And Tiger preferred playing fewer tournaments to stay fresh.

The LIV will not he at 8 tournaments.

Wait they can play the Scottish/Irish Open I thought? Since that is a completely different tour than the PGA. Most do not play the week before unless they play the tournament I mentioned previously.
