What's the point of this team even playing their season
The AD should have thought of that before hand
Teams that are in the playoffs have beaten at least SEVEN (7) p5 teams. How many has UCF beaten?
UCF wouldn't be undefeated had they played just half that many p5 teams

They are not a p5 team. So there is no way for them to schedule that many p5 teams on their schedule.

If they are looking for "the 4 best teams" then a 2OT win over Memphis giving up 55 pts is not the way to do it.
Meanwhile, we have no idea what Bama would have done in their conference championship because they weren't in one.
Memphis is pretty good too. Best team in Tennessee.

They scheduled 2. Beat 1 (Maryland) and 1 (ga tech) got cancelled because of a hurricane.
They tried as much as they could to play P5 teams.

Many of the Group of Five were big fish in the old 1AA pond. I was pissed when all of the old Southland teams from Louisiana and Texas added seats to their stadiums to qualify for D1.
ULM won a 1AA Natty in the 80's. They went from that, to playing in conferences with teams from Tennessee & Florida. LaTech was playing Fresno State and Hawaii. Hard to build rivalries when they're that far away.
I think the Power Fives will eventually go back to not playing the smaller schools, once they expand playoffs and the Big XII gets divided up. All of those former 1AA's will have nicer facilities, than before, but not much else. The goose will be dead.

AAC Sangaurin/power ratings were better than some P5 conferences

What is the real reason the G5 just doesn't separate and go thier own way?
The AAC isn't interested and without the AAC, there's no point of a G5 playoff. The AAC sees itself closer to the Big 12 than the MAC. Putting itself in a playoff with the MAC and Sunbelt wouldn't do them any good.

Their best win is Maryland
It would have been really helpful to beat Gtech
Just didn’t beat anyone anyone cares about.

This is true. Plus the committee already had their minds made up about Alabama and OSU before the Big Ten game. Didn't matter what the Buckeyes did. They had Bama in all along.

And it keeps what is often an unworthy Group of 5 team out of the New Years 6 bowls.
