A team like UCF can go undefeated and still not have a shot at a national championship because their schedule was not strong enough. Basically what you're telling them is that no matter what they did all year, they still have no shot at making the playoffs from the start. There was nothing this team could have done to make it and that doesn't seem right. What's the point of this team even playing their season if they know before hand that they have no shot of a playing for a championship even if they win every game.

If they are looking for "the 4 best teams" then a 2OT win over Memphis giving up 55 pts is not the way to do it.

G5 bro. They never get in because they don't pay enough money like the big boys.

Yeah, if that's the case, why are they even in the same division?

Memphis was 10-1 with their only loss being to UCF in the first meeting. Always tough to beat the same team twice as Auburn found out Saturday.

G5 and P5 should really have their own playoffs

What is the real reason the G5 just doesn't separate and go thier own way?

I'd watch a G5 playoff. Seems like if they marketed it correctly it would be a hit?

Good question... I guess they feel like they deserve a spot at the grown-up table, but time and time again they get told to frick off. I would think at some point they would form their own playoff.

So they get punished for scheduling and beating a power 5 team?

UCF scheduled 2 of them, but one was cancelled due to Irma.

There's something to be said for building a team and maintaining excellence over a period of time. Any decent team can catch lightning in a bottle and run off a lot of wins against inferior competition.

There's been too many times where this team gets their chance to play a big boy team and they crap the bed big time, and everyone says "See, they weren't ready."

There was a time where Oregon was one of those teams overlooked, but they kept it up and eventually were taken seriously.

If UCF is good next year, they'll have a shot.

There is no reason why you couldn't have a Group of 5 playoff system just like what the P5 has....take the 4 top teams, play 2 semifinals in already established bowls, then have a championship game. I would love to see it. And it keeps what is often an unworthy Group of 5 team out of the New Years 6 bowls. There is nothing worse than "that awkward moment when you find out you are going to a New Year's 6 bowl BUT your opponent is Western Michigan"

Well, I say there is "no reason". I am sure money factors in somewhere.
