I mean good for him. Seems to be a young man of principle in that he is helping a university without a lot of publicity obviously gain a ton. It’s definitely a risk for him not going to one of the big boys.

Howard is probably the most prestigious HBC there is. It doesn't need recognition in the black community. Probably one of the only HBC's that isn't always in financial trouble.

They shitty ones in the South sure

Hampton is a very good and wealthy school

Morehouse and Spelman are also really good schools

NC A&T and NC Central are both decent

Schools like southern bring down the overall image of HBCUs

Picking LSU over those two isn't as far a drop as some of the schools to a HBCU. Would be better if you used a school like SELU/NSU/McNeese instead.

Picking LSU over Northwestern is still a pretty large gap

If Trump elected again (hate to bring politics into it) the recruiting shift will happen over the next 4 years... the money will follow the athletes

barely anyone knew what a HBCU was until he started propping them up & investing into those schools a few years ago.

Now you’re just making shite up. I think it’s great Trump is investing in HBCU’s, but to act like they were unknown is just silly. Just because YOU didn’t know about them doesn’t mean barely anyone knew about them

Howard went 4-29 last year (1-15 in the MEAC)

Love that he’s doing it...just surprised he didn’t go to an HBCU that wasn’t 350th out of 353 teams in kenpom last year

Look I hate all the political divisiveness, crazy protests, polarization of issues, cancel culture etc as much as the next guy.... But doesn’t the fact that a thread is started about HBCU basketball and you guys start debating their academic quality kind of play right into the issues of “systemic racism” that people are complaining about?

Good for him. I mean, I hate that he didn't choose Memphis, but at least he didn't pick Kentucky.

No. People were speculating on his reasons for going to Howard. Howard basketball is not good at all, so naturally people will wonder about other attributes of the school.

You are pathetically trying to paint people as racist when there has been nothing of the sort in this thread.

I never said that, I just know what a majority is. You named 3 good schools and 2 decent ones. Where are all the other ones? I just don’t understand why y’all post false info to try and get some point across

A majority of them are still not shite shows

Don’t let the disasters schools in Louisiana speak for the rest

It’s no different than the college system as a whole

You have top tier, mid tier, and crap

Not only that but no way he’s spending 4 years there to get a degree so what’s the point?

This is the opposite, some people in here are pathetically looking for reasons to bash this school because they don’t like the reason the kid chose to go there.

Look I don’t go around looking to find reasons to be offended or think people are biased/racist at all.

But if you can’t see how an HBCU being mentioned about sports and then a bunch of people coming to the thread to talk about how shitty HBCU’s are academically isn’t a little strange I don’t know what to tell you
