From a COVID management perspective. I think it’d be interesting to see college football go back a bit to its regional roots. So I’m excited from that perspective.

But how is that a legitimate solution to protecting everyone involved from COVID? Is this just doing something for the sake of looking like you’re doing something?

Pretty sure Fauci said you can't catch it from somebody in your conference.

1) Limits travel (somewhat, although that's not always correct)

2) Can ensure that everyone follows the same standards. If the B1G has different standards than the AAC, with the AAC being less, it has the potential for issues that can be elimiated by not playing them).

3) I'm guessing they will reset the schedule to allow for more off weeks, perhaps the entire conference is off at the same times. So, if they need to move games around, it's much easier to do so.

This is all about management of the schedule.

So if the B1G is off in weeks 4, 8, and 12, and in week 6, Michigan and Wisconsin are suppled to play, but Michigan has a bunch of players get the Covid, they can just move that game to week 8.

College sports are very decentralized for anti-trust reasons.

Leagues governor themselves. They can only control the testing rules of there own schools. All the G-5 programs are about to be poor as shite and can't pay for real testing.

The big 10 also thinks they are better than everyone else

Missouri has to go to South Carolina and Florida while neither of these schools can play their in state rivalries.

This is patently false.

Spot on. Don't let anyone fool you. AD's are concerned about revenue right now. Limiting attendance and paying for non-conference opponents would further kill their budget. They can't keep legit non-con matchups and scratch the directional schools so the only option is to play conference only and claim it's for "safety" reasons.

Don't have to pay for rent-a-wins and don't have to agree with other conferences on protocols. All 5 conferences can set the procedures and go.

G5 schools are going to hurt bad without those paydays

I think non conference games will come back once everyone gives up on fall football and moves everything to spring.

Tulane was supposed to play Northwestern.

Michigan and tOSU both had games against west coast teams.

Hence, why I said, SOMEWHAT.

Miami to Syracuse and Boston aren’t bus trips.

Because it creates ten closed systems.

Most seasons all it takes is five or six weeks before every FBS program is linked to each other.

a full season spring would be ideal, not sure the logistics of working something like that out though. what a debacle

The P5 schools surely would have to pay something to break the contract tho - COVID does not qualify as force majeure in contractual terms.

Doesn’t really matter what you said. This has nothing to do with limiting travel. Conferences discussing backfilling OOC games with other conference games shows that.

It’s about each conference being able to control Covid testing mandates for every game.

Most G5 schools have insurance on those payday game contracts for natural disasters, pandemics, etc.

They will get paid for games cancelled that are already inked.
