Wilson will almost assuredly be a career backup

While I agree with you that it's fun to laugh at the litany of tards on this board, we should also keep in mind that similar threads were probably started after Flacco and Sanchez' rookie seasons. And (especially with Sanchez), those people that were initially laughed at are now the same people who can come back and say that they were, in fact, ultimately correct.
FTR, I think Wilson will be a good qb for years to come, it's just too early at this stage to point and laugh at those who disagree.

There's some fricked up people on here unless it's all an act.
I thought that giving Flynn some money then drafting Wilson would reflect accordingly, that Wilson would be the backup for a season or two. Obviously the right choice was made with who was the QB from Week 1. Can't complain about the results.

Sanchez posted a 63 QB Rating, Flacco 80.3 QB Rating while Wilson has a 100 QB Rating as a rookie....
Sanchez threw for 12 touchdowns and 20 INT
Flacco threw for 14 touchdowns and 12 INT
Wilson threw for 26 touchdowns and 10 INT
The 3 are not comparable outside of fact they got in the playoffs.

I was on the Russell Wilson pain train early.

The QBR is such a farce of a stat.
But, let's go with it. I am finding it odd 4 rookies in the last two yrs are lighting up the league.
Rule changes and/or new era of offense coming in making it easier for rookies?

I'm hoping Flynn gets released and signed by Arizona.

I do think the Seahawks just flushed money down the toilet on Flynn. If they had no intention of playing him, they never should have signed him and instead signed a wide receiver, which they really need. I still think the GM and head coach are on complete wavelengths, and Carroll basically won this fight. He should be able to get in a GM on will give him players he wants.
The defense is f'n awesome. If they had spent that $25 million on a receiving corp instead of Flynn, the Seahawks would be front runners to go to the Super Bowl right now.
ETA: I also approached this as a minor Seahawks fan. They were the team I rooted for when the Colts left town, and I still casually pull for them. I'm not die hard on anything, but I do root for the team. And man, the receiving corps just sucks. It's the team's only real weakness right now.

Flynn's best option is KC I believe.

It's obviously the rule changes. Are you telling me Peyton Manning coming out of Tennessee wasn't as ready to play in the NFL as Cam Newton, RGIII, Russell Wilson, Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan? Because all of those QBs put up higher QB ratings than Manning in his rookie year. Manning's smarter than all of those players and played in a pro-style system yet he still struggled mightily in his rookie season.

Outside of Vincent Jackson/Garcon who would have been a big upgrade over Rice/Tate? (I dont remember all the receivers available outside of Meachem that would have made the move)

they signed Flynn before they drafted Russell, fyi.
it boils down to them drafting Wilson as a project which obviously hasnt been the case

No, but rule changes are certainly drastic yearly it seems and this spread option thing is new to the NFL.
Yeah, the "wildcat" gave you a glimpse of what that kind of offense can do, but Cam showed the spread option can be useful for every down QB's and RGIII took it to another level. Seattle only added it later in the year for Russell, which seemed to make their offense much better.
Luck is just good despite having to carry much of the load thus more mistakes.
The norm is for rookies to make many mistakes, but those running the spread option seem to be making less.
Edit: QB rating used by itself to rank QB's is a farce. ESPN or NFL version, it's a farce.

You guys can laugh all you want, I never said a negative thing about Russell Wilson's playing abilities. I said that Pete Carroll was putting his job on the line by playing the rookie. Pete and Russell succeeded, good for them.
I just wanted to see Matt Flynn play. I have no ties to the Seahawks, and would only pull for them if they had a guy that I liked playing for them. Flynn was that guy. I don't apologize for wanting to see Matt Flynn play.

I think they did have every intention of starting Flynn and drafted Wilson as a project. And I think they liked what they saw from Wilson in training camp and changed their mind.
ETA: but I don't think the decision reflected anything negative about Flynn. They were just that impressed by Wilson.

I remember saying something about people bitching about never really being open competitions in camp, and when they get one, they bitch.
