Just crazy to think about a coach benching a 28 million dollar qb that the team paid for

I think Flynn will get a shot on another team. There's too many bad starting qb's out there.

This entire thread is the definition of hindsight being 20-20 knowing damn well not a single person prior to the season expected Wilson to be the starting QB , let alone take them into the playoffs after signing Flynn to his contract yet all of a sudden everyone is an oracle and prophet.

If you did, you missed your calling and need to be a sports caster.

Actually go read some of the threads linked, plenty of people called Wilson a good QB. They just missed boat on Seattle defense and receivers.
The best threads are deleted and I can't find on Google but plenty of people actually had faith in Wilson.

Carroll is involved in personnel decisions in Seattle, and his front office just laid down $25 million for a new QB and he's going to bench that QB before they play an actual game? That is an unconscionably stupid way to run a franchise.

That wasn't so bad when you look at it from a business standpoint.

Yeah, hindsight yada-yada.....

I'm sure a lot of people looked at it like Baloo did tho

The thing that ended up making him wrong is how affordable RW is - there's no real harm in them putting down 5 million a year on a QB who gets beaten out by a 3rd round pick. That's still a lot less than most teams invest in the position and the point is to get a guy in place who is the best possible guy at the most important position.

The interesting thing to me will be if the Seahawks end up releasing Flynn, trading him, or even keeping him on the bench for at least RW's sophomore year. They really can afford to consider all three options with how affordable RW's contract will be for the next two years.

Flynn's deal is going to be a 1 year deal since he gets bumped to 7.5 million this upcoming season. I doubt Seattle holds onto him at that price tag (even with Russell making less than a million)

if they are smart they will let wilson learn under the guy who learned under the best for a couple years

I never said he wouldn't be good. I actually liked him a lot. My reasoning behind that comment was they just gave Flynn a fat contract and let Wilson learn the system and be a good QB.

I didn't think he would be this good right away and that's why I said it. I was a big Wilson supporter at Wisconsin and thought he could play in the NFL. Just not right away

7.5? Ouch, 7.5 for next year is too steep - so in that case I agree

I'm not sure any team will like him enough to trade for that either - so I would agree if you are implying he will be released.

Seattle could sit on that (I believe they are in great cap shape) and try to trade him, maybe grab a couple of late round picks. But I don't know if they will, they are in a unique situation.

It was an odd situation. I'm sure they never thought the qb they took in the 3rd round would immediately be that good

But once they realized he would, in my opinion it took real leadership to make the decision to go with the guy they felt gave them the best chance to be successful.

oh it took great leadership for sure...he put his arse on the line. But Obviously they had scouted him prior to paying Flynn right? I get they wouldn't think he'd be THIS good, but they always seemed pretty pumped to get him, even on draft day.

The best was the mental capabilities of Wilson. TDawg and I had a field day in that thread. It was before and during the KC Preseason game.

No doubt Flynn could be a good NFL QB. The success Wilson has had after being named starter says nothing about how good Flynn is. Check out Flynn's career stats. I love how some people think LSU fans are just biased because Flynn played for LSU. Those people are just as biased on the opposite end of the spectrum.

What are you trying to prove? People have opinions and sometimes they are wrong. I'm sure you have said plenty of retarded things on here.

Hey. frick you. How can you be certain Flynn wouldn't be even better than Wilson. Its obvious Carroll still hates lsu and wouldnt give Flynn a chance from the start. His uppers made him sign Flynn.
