AK was a victim of time - 12 years at a P5 school is a long stint and fans get bored.

Only 2 NCAAT appearances - in fairness to him, Ole Miss didnt play the AAU game and never spent much on the recruiting budget.

AK did well in the transfer market tho.

Ole Miss has very good facilities in basketball now and with the new arena came bigger expectations. AK will land on his feet and I hope he does tv in the future. He would kill it in broadcasting and would be one of the best in sports.

proximity to Memphis and New Orleans
Memphis, yeah, but New Orleans is a good six hour drive to Oxford, hoss. That aint proximity in my book.

Historically, Ole Miss doesn't do the head coach thing very good.

Steve Forbes - ETSU
Kermit Davis- MTSU

Would be top 2 choices if I was Ole Miss.

It's 5 hours, and Ole Miss is a popular college choice for New Orleans kids.

I would think both are high on the list.

Forbes may have his pick of several schools this offseason, so I’m not sure where Ole Miss falls on that pecking order.

Yeah but not so much for the basketball/football playing type.

Rhode Island's coach?

Dan Hurley is one of the rising stars in the business. He can do a hell of a lot better than Ole Miss.

With all those NE roots and connections, It’d be weird to see Hurley at Ole Miss. Then again, Bobby is at ASU. It could happen.

Sure, but I think it makes them a known commodity.

The right coach could get in there and steal players from New Orleans. All I'm saying.

he was a guy who'd run his course and was basically a NIT-level coach

Ole Miss is basically an NIT level job. They've made the NCAAt 8 times ever and Andy Kennedy is responsible for 25% of those. He is responsible for 25% of their tournament wins and 50% of their conference tournament championships. I'm not sure you're going to get someone who can do much better. It's not going to be a big name, so OM will be hoping a mid level up and comer can come in and match or exceed Kennedy's performance at the toughest job in the conference. I think it's far more likely he falls short of Kennedy's standard.

Sure.

They're not any good at it, but they're definitely a football school.

OM definitely needs to look for and find the right young, mid major coach looking to make a jump to the P5. Find the right fit and it could give the program a needed shot in the arm with their new arena.
