I think a team like Detroit would be good for him. He could sit behind Goff for a year

From the First Draft pod: Florida QB Anthony Richardson needs time, but he has special tools.

Agree with a lot of the points made here by Mel. Richardson is consistently inconsistent in many areas, but the natural tools are very good. He has some basic traits to clean up because he just hasn’t played a lot of football.

Baltimore.

They are losing their running quarterback.

Replacing one running QB that can't throw with another.

Not a bad idea. I don't know if he drops that far though

If he ends up dropping like Willis did, the Rams should get him. If Stafford's arm starts acting up again their season is over anyway, and they can give AR15 some reps. Otherwise he sits behind Stafford and learns how to be a QB.

I’d be shocked if Detroit took a QB in round 1. Goff was terrific the second half of the season. He may not be the long term solution for them, but they have more pressing needs that need to be addressed.

How in the hell is Richardson considered a 1st round pick.
From what I saw he was very inconsistant and inaccurate
as a passer. If he is to become an NFL QB it will take a
couple of years of benchwarming and he better have a great
OC and QB coach on his team.

It’ll be a bad franchise. Probably Vegas or Atlanta since they’re behind enough QB needy teams that they’ll miss Bryce Young and Stroud and either reach on Levis or Richardson

Malik Willis was considered a 1st rounder last year too. Ended up being drafted in the 3rd

The Jets and Panthers had the worst completion % in 2022 (56.94/58.42, respectively). Maybe they’ll take Richardson(53.8) so they can stay consistent.

Richardson shouldn't be drafted.

He basically quit after the Utah game.

He didn't excel in college, so I don't know why anyone would think he was 1st-round NFL ready. I realize measurables and potential are considered, but completing 53% of his passes with 17 TDs to 9 INTS just wasn't very impressive. Now, he is a great runner and averaged 6+ ypc and had 9 rushing TDs, but it wouldn't be enough for me to draft him in the 1st round with passing being such a huge part of the NFL game.

Yes

For a while, I thought teams overvalued QBs because of their physical tools, but Josh Allen has proven me and others wrong. Allen still has a ways to go on some of his decision making, but Richardson can thank him for helping improve his draft stock.

Baltimore

They more or less have a system that will allow his talents to play in the NFL and will hide his weaknesses. Plus, there’s a need as there’s a chance Lamar is playing for another team this fall.

Isn't the NFL football more difficult to throw with than these new footballs from Nike?

It's hard for me to believe AR15 is going to fit the ball into NFL coverage windows. He's a good runner, but I honestly don't know if he'll be good running against the speed of the NFL.

One thing is obvious - Dan Mullen completely ignored him and didn't coach him at all in his first year or so on campus. Then sabotaged him in 2021. Mullen focused on Trask after Franks left, ignored the other QBs, then just quit coaching at the end of the 2020 season after losing to LSU.
