They had the misfortune of playing a bad schedule, looking pretty rough at times playing it, lost their QB for the season and are clearly worse off for it and there were 4 other teams that had a legit claim to a seat at the table.

if there is another team that is unequivocally (in a way that leaves no doubt.) a top 4 team.
It appears a lot of people have doubts that Bama is a top 4 team after their performances against Texas and Auburn (and USF).
