If enough players hit the portal and don't find a landing spot, will that influence players to be hesitant to leave? I think a lot of players entered the draft as Juniors the first couple of years when that was a new policy.

- Big time players leaving for NIL will continue.
- Smaller school players with high draft grades looking to get more exposure will continue.
- Players that can't crack the starting lineup as fast as they would like will hopefully slow down.

It is when you are a spoiled bitch and the king of participation trophies like Howard.

Bingo. I foresee most players coming from the portal in a year or two and recruiting out of high school will take a backseat.

We don't know that. Nuss doesn't know that. CBK doesn't know that. YOU don't know that.

How difficult would that be for LSU?

There is no longer any period in a players career where the fans can feel safe about his status.

predicting who starts at QB three seasons from now is absolutely foolish.

For a quarterback, yes because truly only one starts and for the most part only one plays. It’s not like every other position.

How did you reach this conclusion? LSU has dozens of players who won't start and are not leaving.

I honestly think Nuss will leave after spring if he doesn’t win the job. Can’t see him sitting a third year.

I think he will stay since he will miss spring practice at any potential place he might transfer to and is nearly guaranteed to start in 2024 for a team that should contend for a title. I think Howard leaving is him also thinking that Nuss is in for the long haul.

It's basically free agency with everyone signing one year contracts and no buyout. As a fan it blows, but I can't blame the athlete for trying to cash in on their talents while they can.

It will only snowball unless we figure out the legal and modern day version to what SMU did 40 years ago. A single ambulance chaser with cringe commercials can't be the face, it needs to be more organized almost like a union to keep these kids here. Track what UGA started doing about 5 years even before NIL was legal, and you'll get a clearer idea of what we need to do at LSU. It's not coincidence that UGA has been in 3 nat championship games in 5 yrs. They got a major jump on the competition because they were fed up not being at the dance for 40 yrs and Clemson/Bama was geographically eating their lunch.

Kids love bringing up or mentioning "my dream school"... but today's kids dream school is one that..... pays me NIL money, I'm starting as a freshman or 2nd year.

I can understand Howard leaving but not Nuss. He has the chance to come in when that O line has matured as well as the defense. NC implications. And I think he'll get enough PT next year to keep him happy. Hell if JD gets injured or struggles he'll get the chance to start. Don't see him leaving.

Even starters leave. We used to get close to kids on the teams and we watched them grow up from Freshman to Senior. Now we have to bring roster guide to every game just so we know who the players are

LSU brought in the guy from Georgia who was a key driver of that effort, so I suspect LSU is doing more behind the scenes than you realize to mimic what they have done.

If that’s his thought process as well, then he should already have his bags packed. I don’t think JD is going to lose his position in spring ball to someone who has almost as many career interceptions as he does touchdowns. Coaches place a high value on quarterbacks who take care of the Ball whether or not some fans do. Nuss can only prove he has learned to take care of the ball by doing so in real game action and not practice.

I think he stays even if he continues to run #2. If he goes someplace else he’s gonna have the same problem as he has had here. He has to beat out another quarterback who is probably more familiar with whatever system that teams running.
