No salary cap in soccer. LeBron would absolutely get that if there was no cap.

Well, Ronaldo is the greatest of all time in his sport. LeBron isn’t top 5 of all time in his sport.

What various guys would get without a cap is an interesting topic

Not really. That's what endorsements are for. A billion dollar, lifetime deal pretty much signals what you're worth.

Absolutely! Let an American transcend soccer the way Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney or Beckham has and the dude can basically print money.

If soccer was huge in the US, Ronaldo would get $100 million because the clubs make that back through merchandising.

Ronaldo has a separete deal but the clubs get the most % from the manufacturer...who of course, gets the most.

NBA Properties income is included in the CBA as Basketball Related Income, and as such licensing and jersey sales is a % redistributed to the team as part of the salary cap and to then the rest to the league. So NBA teams can't collect sales above the cap...and the redistribution from the team to the players is a small % negotiated by the CBA.

Ergo, soccer clubs can basically pay the wages of their top talent through shirt sales.

It seems like soccer clubs are breaking the bank to sign players but they make that money back because their leagues aren't socialist like most of American leagues, especially the NFL.

It's a free market...unlike MLS which where every club gets a cut of the profits from each team and the rest goes to the league to cover expenses.

And with American sports obsessed with the cap, players Unions and socialistic business philosophies...you will never get an American athlete in an American sports league making as much as some international soccer player.

Nike gives the money to Juventas, not Adam Silver and all the other clubs.

There have been various articles on that subject over the years. I don't know when it is going to happen, but when it does it will be amazing to watch. Your move, Pulisic.

That photo makes me laugh. Ronoldo is the best player in the world over 5+ top leagues; England Italy Germany Spain France. That’s not even counting other top leagues around the world. There are more players on each team and less teams per league. 2500 top flight players or so just in those leagues. 500 in The NBA. So Ronaldo is at least 1/2500 and Lebron is 1/500.

Also more people watch soccer. Same argument the WNBA player tried this week

Lebron couldn't hold Ronaldos jock when it comes to world Popularity.

Lebron would be a little drip of jizm on Ronaldos ball sack.
