PFs better than Duncan whose careers overlapped with him:

Garnett
Dirk
Malone

Big men in general who overlapped that were better:

Shaw
Hakeem
Ewing
Robinson

Great player, top 50 all-time yeah probably. Top 25? lol no. Top 10? Gtfo lol

Those guys being better than Duncan a stretch… I think most people would contend Duncan better than all those guys… I don’t think Ewing, Hakeem, and especially Robinson careers overlap Duncan

hell, even i find myself questioning how in the frick that slow, unathletic, weird shot mechanic having fricker dominates the NBA, which has some of the greatest athletes in the world... but he does... he absolutely does

Yea the Duncan praise has gotten outa hand. He’s the most overrated player all time. Prime David Robinson runs laps around him. He was a great power forward who kept his head down and played in a system surrounded by hof’ers in their primes his entire career.

As the only star on the team. Duncan had the privilege of playing with him, obviously, and Ginobili, Parker, Leonard, and Aldridge - all in their primes and HOF caliber players. There was never a year Duncan was on the Spurs where he wasn’t playing with at least one Hall of Famer, and at one point, 3 others besides himself. those teams are so loaded that after Duncan retired they still continued to win 65 games a year and make the playoffs for three straight seasons. In fact in 2014 was probably the third or fourth best player on the on that team.

Robinson, on the other hand, led the spurs to around 60 wins a year as a solo act. The year he went down, the Spurs went from a 60-win team the previous year, to one of the worst records in the NBA overnight. Robertson was a monster.

None of those guys were on the '99 title team when Duncan was 1st team All-NBA and 1st team all-defense. On the '03 title, when Duncan was MVP, Parker was the only one that was starting and the 3rd leading scorer on the team was Stephen Jackson.

Because they were tanking for Duncan, smart team.

He was. The idea that he was better than Duncan is laughable.

Uhh…Robinson was. He played until 2003.

Duncan never had any season better than Robinson’s prime. Not even close. Robinson had better statistical seasons than Michael Jordan.

I'm talking about Giniboli, Parker, Kawhi, and Aldridge. Obviously Duncan played with Robinson and instantly finished in front of him in MVP voting.

Not in points just titles and MVP votes.

Titles = team
MVP votes = journalists

In actual basketball - Robinson has the best defensive +/- ALL-TIME while having an average PER of 30 during his prime.

Based on PER, from the 1991-92 season through the 1997-98 season, Robinson had the highest PER in the NBA - higher than Jordan during his title runs…

…but Duncan was better than that

Malone is the only one who could touch Duncan in individual honors. I think most people would say Duncan takes it with his 5 champs to Malone’s 0.

You are close enough. For the last 6 seasons, here are his stats Points: 27.0 PPG Rebounds: 12.3 RPG Assists: 9.2 APG Field Goal %: 59.0% Three-Point %: 38.5% Free Throw %: 82.5% True Shooting %: 67% (highest all time) PER: 32.1 (best all time, his average is higher than Jordan's best year) The best stats of all time over 6 seasons by far. He has averaged a triple double over the last 4 seasons.

This is insane. I knew he was good but didn’t realize it was anything like this.
