And probably should finish the year ranked #2.

Not a bad year for the Irish...

OSU tried to win, ND tried to keep the score low from the opening kickoff.

Everyone sucked this year except for Bama.

Everyone's defense sucked. All-time bad year for defenses.

It’s easy to pick on ND, but who else? Cincy and A&M?

I dont think defenses are particularly bad this year, we are just currently witnessing an offensive revolution. Give it time, defenses have yet to catch up but they will figure it out soon.

Yes. The only team that possibly could've deserved it more was Cincinnati, and they ended up losing to UGA anyway, so...

Absolutely not. Bama killed OSU, but they killed ND, too. Neither game was competitive in the second half. 17 vs. 28 is irrelevant. OSU was arguably competitive for longer, late into the second quarter.

The biggest reason why you have to have OSU ahead though, is because you obviously have to have OSU ahead of Clemson after the semifinal, and you have to have Clemson ahead of ND, considering they went 1-1 against eachother, with Clemson beating ND by 24 at a neutral site and ND beating Clemson in double OT at home without Lawrence and four defensive starters. It should be:

1) Bama
2) OSU
3) Clemson
4) ND
5) A&M

I could see A&M and/or Oklahoma making it into the top 4. I don't see how ND or Clemson stay in the top 4.

I mean, I guess it's fair to have A&M over ND. Both have comparable wins over UNC and comparable losses to Bama. ND has an extra loss, but also the win over Clemson. I don't find the Oklahoma argument as valid.

Ultimately, it's not really a huge deal, of course.

Obviously I’m being a homer here, but A&M lost the second game of the year on the road. ND and tOSU lost by the same margin at neutral fields later in the season. Not saying they should jump OSU, but they should jump ND and Clemson.

48% of all CFP game are decided by more than 20 points, and 67% by 17 or more.

Notre Dame's lost to Bama was the 7th closest game in CFP (21 total games).

A&M would not have beaten Clemson, Ohio State, or Notre Dame

Yeah, all the “BCS Busters” this year went flop in their bowl games:
Coastal lost to Liberty
San Jose St lost to Ball St
Cincinnati lost to Georgia

The only team that had any argument for being left out that actually won their bowl game was A&M, who struggled to put away a North Carolina team that was missing a massive amount of starters due to opt outs and covid. Even Indiana lost to Ole Miss.
