Death, taxes, bama backing into the playoffs.
So keep crying.

AI would fix all of this. Remove all human voters, who can show bias. Let AI decide the ranking during the season and the playoff rankings at the end of the season. AI will not ne swayed by "blue blood" programs and a name like Ohio State or Texas. It will pick who rightly deserves to be there

Conference championships still mean something and likely always will. Nattys are harder to come by and not the exclusive goal.

Teams wont be punished for CCG losses
Well, this is sort of impossible with Oregon and Texas, they could absolutely be "punished" by losing their CCG because they will lose their first round bye in that hypothetical.

Toughest team they played since BYU where they lost at home.
First game where they switched from Stone to Jennings. SMU is going to wreck Clemson. Too much firepower. Clemson is too slow for one.

The lack of a new data point will just prevent a bye team from jumping another bye team this week.
Having a past opponent that you beat play against and beat a top 10 ranked team should boost your resume. That should be a new data point. Saying that it isn't means that the committee doesn't care about strength of schedule.

If SMU loses to Clemson, can SMU drop below Alabama?
CFP chair Warde Manuel: "Potentially yes"
This is how you make schools, fans, and every conference outside of the B1G and SEC hate the playoff system.
Rewarding a team who finished 4th in their conference and sat home idle on conference championship weekend by punishing a team that went 11-1 in the regular season and played an extra game for the conference title.

They were never "conference champions" to have earned that bye yet.
But if they lose in the CCG, then they shouldn't fall below any other at-large teams who were idle this weekend. Hypothetically if they both lose, they should be the 5 and 6 seeds.

I believe what the committee meant when they said it was that you wont get knocked out of the playoffs for losing a CCG if you were already in the playoffs before the CCG. Seeding of course is volatile. No way to avoid that.

SMU is currently in the playoff. If they lose the ACC title game to Clemson, then Clemson moves into the playoff field and someone gets bumped out.
Based on the current standings, Bama is the last at-large team in the field. So if Clemson wins the ACC title game, then that means either Bama or SMU gets bumped out.

5 out of the 12 teams being “tier 1” teams is not a surprise lol
So everyone agreed with me all along that teams like Bama could lose three games a season, including 2 games to 2 teams at .500, and they would still waltz in the playoff?
Yeah...LOLOLOLOL

Do you envision a 12 team playoff in the future with like 11 non “tier 1” teams or something?
Wtf are you even bragging about proving? Lol

It would be Bama that stays home unless SMU loses by like 4 TDs.

If CCG didn't exist they would get the bye because they would be the conference champions by way of winning the conference.

Teams wont be punished for CCG losses
Maybe as a general rule you can say it, but when certain teams are involved they will make up whatever shite criteria they want to.

I will say that there is precedence here. If SMU loses a close game in the ACC championship, similar to TCU in 2022, they will more than likely remain in the playoffs. 12-1 TCU was in the CFP over 10-2 Bama.
However, if SMU was to go out there and get boatraced similar to Wisconson v Ohio State in 2014. They are 100% getting left out.
Moral of the story for SMU, don't get blown out, and you're in the playoffs.

I don’t know if I want the byes determined by tiebreakers
The byes shouldn't be tied to conference championships. Nor should inclusion in the playoff at all. Top 12 get in, top 4 get byes. Leave it at that.

A 2 loss SEC team was in the Championship back when they only picked 2 teams. Did you really think it was a stretch that a 3 loss SEC team would make a 12 team playoff?

Didn't they say that teams wouldn't be punished for playing in their conference championship?
What does that say for SMU?
What if UNLV beats Boise St. Does that knock out Boise St. or does the MWC get TWO teams in the playoffs? And if so, what team not playing for a conference championship get bounced from the playoffs...after they said that those teams are locked in.
I thought the playoff system was the beginning of the end for college football, but this is proving it.
