They have two fantastic prospects in Added and Marsh along with Upton, Ohanti, and then they have solid pieces in Fletcher and others....

So what? They still have one of the lowest ranked farm systems. MLB.com has them at 25 out of 30. LINK They aren't winning by building from within any time soon and they aren't going to be able to spend their way into a good team either. They are better off moving him now when he has a ton of value.

Yankees had one of the lowest ranked systems for years and that has not stopped them from producing...

They have some key pieces and they've found some gems in Bundy who has produced.

They've tried to buy FA and made mistakes in Pujols, Wilson, Hamilton, and Upton... They had success in Simmons and a few others but it isn't enough.

Hell look at the Red Sox for proof you don't need to build within as this year JD, Whitlock, Evoldi, Richards, Pivetta, Ottaviano, Gonzales, Hernandez, Verdugo, Renfroe, Cordero, etc are not from their team. They've made several sly FA pick ups

It's too bad we aren't bros in real life b/c this would be the kind of thing I'd love to make a yearly 6 pack bet on. Gonna have to agree to disagree.

The Angels have spent enough to remain average during his career...
They tried to help Trout through FA and it has not helped.
Their farm system has had some high end players but not enough to produce consistent producers....

Hell I honestly feel teams should draft nothing but pitchers and then use them to trade for the talent they need as it seems to be more effective

From the Angels perspective please explain why they would do this. Also by all accounts Mike Trout is happy here.

Yes it's very disappointing. They're going to win the WS this year though. Hopefully.

Trouts contract is a steal. They will never get his value in return and there isn't a salary cap

B/c they suck arse and their farm system is one of the lowest ranked. They would be better off getting a boatload of prospects than having one of the best in baseball collect stats that won't help them do a damn thing.

Teams can always rebuild their farm system through the draft, international free agency and trades. It's happened countless times over the years. Finding another player who is locked up for the next nine years and will very likely be a 75+ WAR player over that time period is virtually impossible.

He signed for a shitload of money to live in Southern California knowing the Angels organization and owner are trash.

Enough with the pity party for him. He may be one of those guys where lifestyle and location are more important than winning. If so, there’s nothing wrong with that. If winning is the most important thing, then he took the most money available at the time and has to live with knowing he re-signed with a shitty organization.

In any event, let’s stop acting like it’s the crime of the century Mike Trout isn’t in the postseason every year.
so if he’d signed with the Yankees you’d be a fan?

The Angels have arguably the top 2 most exciting players in baseball, and won’t make the playoffs. Joke of an organization right now.

Will be interesting for sure. I know I’ve never seen a last place team win the World Series.

Yeah. Definitely sucks to be him. shite, I'll take my life over that misery any day.

You keep him because he puts asses in the seats. Glad I got to see him and Pujols go yard against the Rangers in Arlington. Think Trout had 3 HR that series and Albert had two. Neat to see two future HOF'ers do their thing. shite, It might've been Albert's best 3 game stretch in the last 8 years.

Now don’t shoot me…

Is Mike Trout the baseball equivalent of Minnesota Kevin Love?

Monster stats on garbage teams. Doesn’t really translate to winning.

I’ll hang up and listen.
