seems like Shaq is sending mixed messages

This is disgusting. Drees was no victim. Those players don’t have to give him the respect of a call, just like he didn’t give Kaepernick respect and mischaracterized kneeling. Also, comparing Black players to villians (savages) in LOTF is VERY tone deaf, especially now

1. Kaep wasn’t his teammate.

2. Brees didn’t mischaracterize anything. Kaep made it very clear his protest centered around the flag

Wasn't it Brees' own teammates that didn't contact him directly, but instead went to the social media mob instead?

Even to the point of deleting some of their ignorant posts?

I'd say his own teammates are doing a great job of this. The media is taking their direction and piling on.

Brees needs to just retire at this point.

A media that he's a part of now.

Good message from Shaq, but this is a ton of bullshite.

Shaq and Kobe were more of the reason than the media. Just read Phil's book on the 2004 season.

Are yall thick in the head? He isnt saying the divide was fake, he is saying they let the media divide them, and he is right....I think Kobe and Shaqs beef centered around the idea of "whose team was it/ who is alpha" The let that media driven narrative divide them. His message is now block that out, its all bullshite, and dont let that ruin them like it ruined him and kobes relationship/ the laker
The reading comprehension on this board is abysmal

How is Shaq sending mixed messages? The tweet you quoted was just some random dude on Twitter that was replying to a tweet from Peter King that had Shaq and NBC Sports mentioned in the original tweet

Kamara , Cam Jordan & Sheldon Rankins are Brees' teammates who kneeled during the anthem. They made it very clear that it had nothing to do with the flag/ military.

Yet 3 years later Brees is still publicly suggesting that it's about the flag/ military. Not a good time for Brees to start this distracting lie again after George Floyd's death.

lol at Shaq still trying to pretend the Lakers locker room falling apart wasn't his mostly fault for acting like a big fat baby.

I agree. His ego and Kobe's ego caused the problems for the Lakers.

When managers forced to make decisions, they went with Kobe. If Shaq can accept the 2nd fiddle role, Lakers can win more titles.

My apologies. I don't use twitter so I thought the tweet was from Shaq.

He was asked a question and answered the question Honestly from his personal perspective. 3 or 4 years ago it was about the flag being the Kaep clearly stated it was about the flag. I don’t argue it was poor timing by Brees and he should have been more media savvy, but people used to say “I don’t agree with XYZ, but I respect so and so for speaking his mind.” The cancel culture is a tone deaf, toxic, narrow minded embarrassing era in our history.

Don't let the media divide you! Don't let social media divide you!"

I love Shaq's spirit and gratuitous advice to help my team but the Lakers got divided along Kobe/Shaq lines because Shaq didn't share Kobe's work ethic and that caused friction and all that exacerbated when Kobe gratuitously threw Shaq under the bus to Colorado police after he was arrested for rape, crazy times

Glad Shaq referenced the social media, it's the social media mob mentality...the media is scared of them too so they are trying to appease them, as media members who don't tow the line will fall victim too as Peter King found out...not that I feel sorry for him.

But thanks for trying to mediate Shaq. Hope they don't come after you for it.

How many people would've believed in the 90's that Shaq and Charles Barkley would end up being the 2 most logical voices in the sports world?

Every time I see them on TNT or see their names together anywhere all I can think of is Barkley trying to pick Shaq up to body slam him midgame.

That is a LEGITIMATE "beef" that a player might have against another player. If you have such a beef, you'd be very wrong to make it public, however, but, that is a legit beef and complaint for one dedicated player to have against a teammate. Michael Jordan would most certainly agree with Kobe and me on this one.

How can people say this with a straight face still? It 100% is about the flag and anthem. The leader of the protest said this. Also, if it wasn’t about the flag or anthem, it makes zero sense for them to keep protesting in this manner once they noticed how much it divides people

Shaq caused a lot of the trouble with Kobe as well.

Kobe got caught cheating, Shaq took his shots. Also, him rapping "Kobe...how does my arse taste."

It's not all on the media.
