Our BEST athletes are not picking up soccer at an early age.

Everyone points to this, and it's certainly a component of it.
But soccer is more of a head game, and less of an athletic game than people give it credit for.
I've seen guys with beer guts and knee braces make athletic guys looks incompetent because they could see things that the others couldn't.

The recent big money signings have gone toward signings like Barco, Almiron, Kaku, Rossi, etc. Guys that are younger than 25.

This is MLS 3.0.

Most of you guys bitch about the NFL and never going to watch it again. Why you bothered if real football takes it over? You should be happy.

imagine Allen Iverson or Deion Sanders playing and loving soccer from an early age. The results would be different.

what makes you think these guys playing soccer wouldve made them better technically than any player we've ever had?

they wouldve just been more athletic versions of the players we have already had

they wouldve spent their whole lives playing forward and just running past defenders and never had to rely on technical skills. so when they hit the national team they wouldve been underdeveloped

Well yeah, if you don't have the development at a young age like the clubs do in Europe it won't make any difference. If, however, you had bigger, stronger, faster guys training from an early age it would make a huge difference. Enough to compete with the big boys. But until the clubs in America reach that level, it's still a long ways off.

We DO have the bigger stronger faster guys almost 100% of the time. People aren’t really understanding that.

Kyle Korver would be our best athlete if he stepped on the field

Not likely.

In all likelihood he is too tall to be of much use at soccer though, even with life long training.

Yes but he was good in spite of his extreme height not because of it. He was also horribly unathletic. One of my favorites though.
