Scottie Scheffler is due in court on June 3 after Louisville Police gave no indication that the four charges against the world No 1 golfer will be dropped.

Scheffler was arrested in the early hours of last Friday (May 17) before his second round at the PGA Championship at Valhalla in Kentucky.

Stunning images showed golf's world No 1 in handcuffs before he was taken to jail for not following police orders during a pedestrian fatality investigation.

Cops gave a press conference on Thursday, alongside Louisville mayor Craig Greenberg. There was speculation that the charges would be dropped - or even reduced.

Instead, however, officials vowed to 'to respect the legal process' and 'let it play out', with Scheffler due to be arraigned in court next month on the following charges:

Second-degree assault of a police officer, a felony
Third-degree criminal mischief
Reckless driving
Disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic

In Kentucky, second-degree assault is a Class C felony which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Uh, the question of charges isn’t up to the police at this point. That’s for the DA’s office.

I posted this in the thread about the new video, but I don’t see how the DA’s office could pursue these charges any further given the information we have (including this new video). I’m not sure how any prosecutor could look at this and think that they would have even a 50% chance of obtaining a conviction in this case.

Surely the DA’s office will exercise their prosecutorial discretion and drop these charges.

Unless someone is dumb enough to think they can use this case as a springboard to a higher political office.

And if there is one thing you shouldn't underestimate, it's how dumb an aspiring politician is.

The arresting officer is from Louisiana and was on NOPD before joining LMPD.

The charges WILL be dropped by the DA. No doubt in my mind.

I guess the part where he was dragged down we can't see bc the bus is blocking that footage? what we see is him after he got to his feet and started chasing scottie?

I'm team scottie. I just want to make sure that the officer never fell down as they swore he did. doing unrepairable damage to his pants.

I can tell you what is happening right now: The Union is putting pressure on the DA to not drop them, and the police Union has power.

Everyone else is telling him to drop them, and those people will eventually win.

They will want to make an unofficial deal, off the record, that he does not sue in exchange.

Back the blue!

Seriously though, if ever a “do you know who I am” moment was called for, that was it.

Dumbass cop, typical.

I’d say “oh sure sure” if I were Scottie then the second those charges were dropped, I’d come after all officers’ involved jobs for this.

I guarantee that the rank and file hate that officer for the initial arrest and the DA for continuing this farce.

That's exactly what it is. LMPD's reputation post-Breonna Taylor has been awful, the city has had to pay out over $40 million in lawsuits due to their negligence. They don't want to deal with another.

Ironically, the Mayor just negotiated with the FOP a 22% raise for LMPD over the next four years. And they've never been "defunded" so they can't argue that it's lack of funding that has resulted in half of their police force being ignorant motherfrickers.

We have career criminals who are nuisances to society having far more serious charges dropped by woke DA’s on a daily basis, and this DA is going to pursue charges over this ridiculousness against what, by all accounts I’ve heard, is a genuinely really good human being.

I am hoping that cops don't blatantly lie in order to cover up for their shoddy work. Maybe I am just being naive.

But if all that really happened was captured in the video and the dragging did not occur while the bus was blocking the footage, you can't just trust a saying of let the legal process play out.

Scottie’s attorneys are going to pillage that place given the recent release of another video angle

Louisville PD apparently hasn’t gotten enough bad press from this yet.
