Absolutely. IMO, it probably was something of an "open secret" around the program and the town. This is not surprising at all, and I doubt it's the last "other shoe" to drop.
Considering that he and paterno were such great friends and all, and that their children were all great friends, I seriously wonder if one or two of JoePa's sons were victims.

Could that be a reason that they are so strenuously defending JoePa and glossing over the Freeh Report, because they don't want it to come out that not only was it happening but it was happening to the boss's kids?

From the one account I've read on this, these victims have nothing to gain, as their civil claims have prescribed, legally, and the statute of limitations has run on any criminal charges. So it would seem that they have 100% credibility as to anything they mite say. Wondering if the Paterno's investigations will include statements from these victim? Guessing probably not.

Why didn't these three come forward with the other ones, why leave the more recent ones hung out to dry. I assume statutes would make these cases hard to prosecute

They're going to come out of the woodworks now, penn state's checkbook is about to take a beating. Any kid who's ever been in the same room as Sandusky may get in line.

Been saying this from the beginning. Ever since the story first broke with the victims in the grand jury hearing.

There will be a lot more than 14 known victims by the time this is over.

PSU is going to get death penaltied, and it won't have anything to do with NCAA sanctions.

If sandusky did it before others knew, is PSU to blame?

Do these guys who were victimized before the PSU coverup in 98 have much of a case? They may not be able to say that PSU already knew of it and Sandusky likely didn't leave much behind.

I don't understand what these people have to gain by coming forward.

For those back in the 70's, even the 80's, they have nothing to gain as the clock has run both civily & criminally. Not having walked in their shoes, I presume they just need to get it out of their systems.

I firmly believe that Jay Paterno got the tickle monster treatment. I also wouldn't be surprised if JoePa did a bit of diddling himself.

Meh, I think he could have, but very doubtful.
Joe seems like a guy who knew about it, but didn't want to get involved, and maybe didn't want to believe it because it was his friend.

I'm not defending his actions, just saying what could have happened.

I've been saying since day 1 that he didn't suddenly go Pedo in 1998.

I also think Paterno looked the other way at some point in the past and Sandy had that on Paterno which kept Paterno looking the other way.

There is no explicable reason for keeping him around after 1998 other than he had dirt on someone and the only dirt I can think of would be a past cover up.
