I was more talking about tonight’s game where he knew he needed x number of rebounds and assist for the season triple double. He was gonna make sure he got that no matter how the game turned out
So? They weren't going to lose to fricking Memphis

He needed the rebounds. He had the assists already
801 in 79 games.

I like Westbrook. Maybe that’s not coming thru in my posts. I wish he was on my team. He might be the only person in the league you can 100% say legitimately wants to win.
Doesn’t make him any less of a stat hog.

Think of it this way, when you start putting up this stat line with your career mode player in NBA2K, you up the difficulty or quit playing because it’s too easy

At one point he had 18 rebounds and his closest teammate had 3. I know it’s impressive but he can’t deny chasing stats or getting free rebounds. Come on.

He definitely could've articulated that way better, came off as an entitled, vindictive MEGADOUCHE

He has cheapened the triple double for all other players. Him chasing them has lead to others chasing them and now they simply don’t mean what they once meant. And they never meant much in the first place.

I’m sure he’s probably just annoyed by those who try to discredit any of it. Like he said, if it was easy, it would have been done more than once in 40 years.

Yeah he needs to stop chasing them for sure. Would prefer him to start running in to people in the lane, never once trying to actually make a real shot attempt while trying to draw cheap fouls. And definitely wish he would start coming off high screens past the 3 point line and do this weird flopping move where he just throws the ball straight up looking for cheap 3 free throw fouls...
Would be much...much...better to watch...

And I completely understand and empathize with that, just I know Russ goes 110% all the time and attempts to do everything because that's the intense, almost maniacal competitor he is and I love him for that despite that it might detract from team success sometimes, I'd have handled that situation a lil differently from that perspective, that's just me.

Definitely arrogant in that sound byte

Just think if every player “chased rebounds”
Like why the frick aren’t you going balls to the wall to grab every rebound

It’s probably one of the dumber statements you’ll hear.
Essentially saying “my God, he is out here just hustling too much!”

Pretty much. If it was so easy, stat padders on losing teams would do it. But they can't, shite is insane over 82 games to hustle that much.
I mean of highlights someone made, I saw at least 3 he simply out hustled to the ball.
There was also one that Adams passed up and Westbrook launched a full court pass for a layup. That's a pass Adams doesn't make and an easy 2 points they don't get.
It's just like the shite people give brees and 5k yards. If it was so easy, why don't all these 'losing qbs' ever do it? Ignoring the fact that brees throwing that much still maintains a reasonably below average int% while having a high td%.

Westbrook is my favorite player in the league. He needed like 32 rebounds in his final two games to average a triple double and there was never any doubt he was gonna make sure he had them. I’d do the same if I was in his position.

quote:Exactly. Getting as many rebounds as you possibly can is one of your main goals as a basketball player. You can’t hate on Russ cuz he actually does that. More players should do it if it’s that easy.

He led his team to the playoffs in the West twice now AFTER losing a top 5 player in KD. They are the 4 seed this year. You take Westbrook off the Thunder and they are another team tanking, instead they are a hard out every game.
The guy balls out, helps his team win and make the playoffs, and has been insanely consistent. If you hate on him, it is simply because you want to and not because of his play on the court. Billy Donovan knows to run his team through Westbrook and it works incredibly well.
