A triple double today is less impressive than ever:

1. There are more now than ever. Take away all of westbrooks and there are still more than ever.

2. They are easier to come by. Offensive rebounding is at an all time low. Uncontested d rebounds are at an all time high.

Harden has the only 60 point triple double
Harden has the only 50/15/15+ triple double.

We don’t even really bring them up. I’m consistent.

That's because the trend of jumbo sized PGs + point forwards that was effectively nonexistent in previous NBA eras. Top level players that fit that bill in previous generations put up triple doubles regularly as well

Jason Kid - 6'4
Magic Johnson - 6'9
Oscar Robertson - 6'5
Larry Bird - 6'9

This is due to the increased demands on transition defenses, not hustle

Correct. Triple doubles are a product of the style of play of the league and the media narrative that attaches value to them. So first to triple double since xyz is really not the best way to look at it. When the other team isn’t trying for the rebound and you have a teammate who boxes or but don’t even try for the rebound.... yea. Those rebounds don’t have the value of other rebounds.

When we look at a triple double we say wow look at how much value those points / rebounds / assist gave his team. We we look deeper we see that the rebounds were NOT contested. An uncontested rebound is clearly not as valuable as one that is contested by the defense. so we value that accordingly.

We are not comparing him to other guards. We are comparing his triple doubles v triple doubles in other years where teams attempted to offensive rebound. Historically this is the easiest time in nba history for any player to get a triple double. Due to numerous factors. And players are actively Chasing them
Now Making them lose their value. Which wasn’t much to begin with.

you are an autistic idiot and Russ is better than Harden.

Harden is a bitch, that's why you like him. Cuz you too are a bitch. A dumb bitch.

You are a mental weakling. You have no argument on topic so exhibit your “imitation of strength”. It’s transparent as all get out.

Not really. While putting up these stats, he's managed to go from a 6 seed and 1 playoff win last year to a 5 seed this year.

I think he's a great player, I just don't think a triple double average makes him the MVP.

He's had a worse season this year, by a decent margin too, not real close.

He’s up there. He would be my favorite player if he didn’t sabotage his teams success with league worse shooting efficiencies. I’ll go with Lillard as number one though.

quote:

Far too frequently, the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard grabs a defensive rebound and jets down the court before deciding to take an ill-advised pull-up jumper in transition. The shot will inevitably clang off the backboard before falling harmlessly into the outstretched mits of the opposition. On the season as a whole, Westbrook is shooting 27.1 percent on pull-up triples, but that's apparently not enough incentive for him to break this troublesome habit. Unfortunately for OKC, he hasn't been much better in spot-up situations, either. Westbrook's overall three-point percentage is a miserable 29.1 percent. Combine that with his penchant for lofting up shots (4.4 per game from downtown), and you have a recipe for the least valuable contributions from beyond the arc, outpacing Pascal Siakam (minus-53.86 value added) by a slim margin.

He doesn’t play winning basketball. If you wonder why his team can’t even win 50, there it is.
