This is starting to become the norm, unfortunately.

Definitely think we're heading to the biggest list yet of guys deciding to do this. I think it started out with Fournette and McCaffery that first year and now it's become more widespread. Can't blame these guys, though. There's a lot of money at stake.

I feel like soon it's going to be unfair to judge teams and coaches based on bowl results when their best draft-eligible players won't play.

Business decision - each player looking after his financial interest. So he doesn’t care about your feelings about team loyalty.

All low character. Nothing surprising

I made no comments about loyalty or anything else. It's just a list.

Yes. Anyone that does something you dont agree with is low character.

Says more about you, than it does about them, since you are the one judging people you never met.

Fournette was already hurt going into the game..

I’m not referring to you. I’m referring to fans who are butt hurt. I’m simply offering an explanation. Athletes treat sports as a business. Fans treat sports as personal. Sometimes the goals and objectives of business and personal align. Sometimes they don’t(like players not playing bowl games). But some people don’t understand this.

just get rid of the other bowls. frick it. You don't win enough to make the playoff, your season is over. Just like in every other damn sport.

I think this was part of the reason the redshirt rule was changed. Now it opens up a pool of players for the bowl games that weren't available before to replace the big name guys sitting out.

He was, but he had over a month to rehab the ankle and play had he wanted to. Again, I don't fault the decision.

Ehh. Fans ask players to play in bowls, but if the player gets injured, the fans ain't compensating for lost pro income. Loyalty tends to be one way like that.

Really, this is about how most bowls don't matter. They're easy to skip because they're essentially an exhibition for the spectacle.

I’m sure memories of Willis McGehee and Marcus Lattimore getting permanently fricked up didn’t help matters.

A lot of these kids who are seen as legitimate high 1sts are probably scared to death of playing one last game that could wreck their chance at the big paycheck.

So do the teams. It's only the fans who expect it to be personal

Can you blame them? Not only is injury a concern, but ESPN and the college football media has made the bowl games a complete afterthought

It wasn't this bad with the BCS, but the bowl games were still given recognition .
