When I was at CHS (93-97), some of the dumbest kids in my class were on football scholarships. They also were given free lunches and other perks too. And they were also problem kids in class too, and always got into trouble there. But they were good at football (or track) though.

HS recruiting has always been around, and for CHS to avoid any sort of punishments for this long is actually kinda funny.

No. but even if I was, I would still be straight shite talking high school sports

So your dig is still valid

Truth is, I hate the current Catholic high admin and have went at it with them in some pretty heated emails. I was on fire. Roasting them you know

ETA: I don’t hate the admin as individuals. I hate the direction they are taking be school

You mean schools in white populated areas, and/or schools with already great football programs

Yea, no one transfers from those schools for good reason

Are you saying white people create better, safer, and more coveted situations?

Yeh Lester has some explaining to do

He inferred black people cant provide safe environments or proper education. Which I fully disagree with.

It's not a net positive for the kids who go to their neighborhood school and follow the rules. That's why the split was the best move. The only thing they should have done is allow open recruiting for select schools and punish the crap out of non selects that recruit

Here is the thing as well. These “recruits” being taken out of North BR and given a proper education and chance to succeed is a huge net positive for everyone

Private schools literally couldn't survive without "recruiting" since they do not have the compulsory student base public schools have by their nature. Private schools target all kinds of students based on their niche, whether it be smart kids, band kids, drama kids, or athletes. It's so funny to see public school people get mad about "recruiting."

But frick that, for football equity Warrick should have gone to his shitty inner city school and been left to rot

Uh, you realize that the only reason Catholic wanted Dunn at their school was for that same meaningless "football inequality".

It's the other side of the same coin where football is more important than the kids. Let's not pretend that Catholic was out to help build a great man in Warrick Dunn.

There are no rules that say Catholic can't go bring in as many North Baton Rouge kids who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it into their school. They are just saying they can't do it based on athletic accomplishments.

Funnier still considering that some schools in the Monroe or greater NOLA area have either a history of people moving there to play football or they can pick and choose from an entire parish worth of applicants without regards to enrollment zones.

OTOH, I went to a private school where we had people move in from across the country, and in two cases from other countries, where the guys were ineligible for a year because where they moved to wasn't in the enrollment zone for the HS.

If someone is moving in from the Middle East or Canada, I'm thinking they aren't trying to move there just to do cross country and track but for bonafide reasons.

Catholic wasn't the only school chasing Dunn.

He went to Episcopal for middle school before Catholic grabbed him for HS.

Catholic schools always recruit players. Happens in every state

I have no problem with them recruiting. Especially now that there’s a split. Let the schools that have the ability to recruit do so. It will help the kids in the end. Having two separate divisions allows for a competitive balance. Schools that do not have the ability to recruit can compete amongst themselves

So, once again, you would be happier to see him be forced to go to his zoned public school?

How is this any different than wanting him for showing promise in mathematics?

What’s wrong with valuing people who have value?

Sure you can have my wand. But until the wand does it’s work and the public schools are shite you are going to have kids wanting to leave public schools and go to privates. Math kids, athletic kids, fat kids, skinny kids, white kids, black kids, etc

It’s not a mystery why Texas public schools dominate the privates as a whole

I played football in high school against both Warrick and his brother. His brother played at Broadmoor. Then again, his brother wasn’t a college football talent so Catholic didn’t feel the need to, how were y’all saying it, “build a great man”.
