re: Rose Bowl voted to expanded CFP What is your prediction of the first 12 team Playoff?

Rose Bowl hate has a lot more to do with Big Ten/Pac 12 hate than hating the actual Rose Bowl

Most games are meaningless

With Sofi stadium in play the rose bowl's days are numbered
Plus you have a nice new stadium in vegas as well
They need to either get on board or college football is going to leave them in the dust

Easy, then just win the playoff games

IMO, 12 is a good number of teams, it works out to where it's almost like an 8 team playoff. Top 4 seeds get a bye, then you have a play in for seeds 5-8 to determine their opponents. It makes for more relevant games through out the season. Going into last weekend, there were maybe 7 teams that thought that they had a shot at making the CFP? That means games were irrelevant for 120+ teams.

It’s funny how we have lots of the “get off my lawn” types in here (myself included) that love how the game used to be.
It is human nature to over romanticize the past, especially the past when they were young.
The Rose Bowl location is amazing and yes the weather in So Calf is perfect. I’d rather they play the NCG there instead of SoFi this year. However the Rose Bowl game was created as an exhibition to promote tourism at a time before cars and planes were viable modes of travel. At a time when there was no National Champion and even when there was it was determined before the bowls. Times and sports fans preferences change. The B1G Champ vs the PAC 12 champ playing at 1PST on New Years Day was fine in the 50s even the 60s but just doesn’t work in the current sports climate

This is another problem.
There shouldn't be 130. There should be more like 64.

Rose Bowl may be on life support with USC/UCLA to Big 10.

Then you think CFB should just be the NFL?
Absolutely not, but that is where we are heading with this expanded playoff, unfortunately.

I’m sorry I was under the impression they’ve played a full season already. The “nerds” are ranking teams based on that not just “opinion”
12 games is better for determining who the best teams are than who wins 1 special named game. Not to single out one team but Alabama is a very talented. they lost 2 games so they should not be playing for the championship. (And yes they lost 2 games on the last play they also won 2 games like that)
I said this before the World Series and retards accused me of being “afraid” of the Phillies but now that it’s over and they lost, I maintain they had no business playing for the title based on how they played for 162 games over 6 months

Those teams have no chance to win a 12 team playoff. They’ll just get obliterated in a first round game.
The number of blowouts incoming in a 12 team playoff will shock people. It shouldn’t be a surprise given the CFP’s history so far, but a lot of people seem to have deluded themselves into thinking 11-1 G5 teams won’t get destroyed be actual top programs that are locked in for a playoff game.

Probably but then again 85 Villanova had no chance either

This year again shows that 12 teams is a joke.
LSU, Clemson, Oregon, OSU, etc have no business in any championship playoffs after getting embarrassed on Saturday.
agree. some years we've had an argument between the 2nd and third place teams in the bcs system. they implemented a 4 team playoff to make sure no one who had an argument for being one of the top two deserving teams got left out.
now the team who ends up 5th is crying about not getting in when they would've never been considered one of the top two teams at the end of the year.
2022 is a great example of needing a 4 team playoff if tcu wins out at 13-0. the 4th team, whether it be sc or osu, are really only lucky to be there.
with a 12 team playoff, we're gonna have 8 - 10 teams who have no business being there in the first place. it just waters down the regular season. i'm sure there will be a lot of crying over the 13th ranked team getting left out.
the least they can do is get rid of conf championship games if they're gonna have a 12 team playoff. winning a conf would just be an aggregate conf record and tie breakers like it used to be.

4 is the perfect number, this year could be just another example like 2019, 2018 and 2004

Nah,
Conference championships should mean something, that's why the 12 team works so well. Top 4 conference champs get a bye. You get rewarded for winning your conference but it doesn't exclude teams who don't win their conference but still have good seasons.
It also helps recruiting as more teams can claim they have a shot at the title instead of the 6 or so teams we have right now.
Edit: if you want to keep it at 4 let’s move to 4 mega conferences and the winner of each conference gets in the playoff. I want objective standards to crown the champ not a few guys in a room determining who gets a shot at the title.

The problem is there is sometimes a subjective argument to be made for a 5th or lower ranked team to be in the top two.

Basketball is a completely different sport with significantly more potential for a less talented team to win.
A 12 team playoff just gives a lifeline to an Alabama, OSU or UGA to have a mediocre season and still get hot late and win a title. That’s the only way a “low” seed could win. The other programs won’t be talented enough to win 3-4 games in a row against good/great teams.

2011 and 2003 are also good examples of needing a 4 team playoff. 12 is just a big joke. it's all for tv revenue. i guess i may as well enjoy the extra games, but it's gonna take a lot of meaning out of regular season showdowns, etc.
the game, bama/lsu, etc. will all just be for seeding purposes.

Only good thing about USC and UCLA moving to the Big 10 is that the Rose Bowl will be dead in five years.
