So your response is to jump in and start slinging insults at everyone?

Makes sense.

Maybe, just maybe, you’re the miserable one here and the rest of us were enjoying a weekend rooting for our favorite athletes and against the ones we don’t like.

You don't like Rory or the PGA. Cool.

Make sure you always bring it up to let everyone know.

Probably didn't want to compound the pressure.

They would have had to fly in on Sunday morning. It's not like the go to every single major he plays in.

What? I’ve never said anything about the PGA. I think the LIV vs. PGA is some of the most overblown nonsense I’ve ever seen.

I like certain golfers and dislike others. Which tour they play on is completely irrelevant to me.

If you honestly think you can change my point of view about Alfalfa, have at it. I think he was set up as a PGA stooge and he bit on that role as the so-called Players Rep, hook, line, and sinker. He alienated his best friends in the process and finally realized all that stuff he was defending had nothing to do with the "moral high ground." In short, Monahan played him like an old violin and he was in such a hurry to admire personalities for the sake of his own gain, he played the fool. That is the guy that just won the Masters.

It’s great to see the grand slam, but crazy that he only has 5 Majors. He could probably get a couple more

I would be very surprised if he doesn't end up around 8. Winning 3 more is no easy task, but his best is better than anyone else's right now, in my opinion. He could have 6-8 years left of prime golf in him, at least.

I am interested to see if he continues his run of recent form for the remainder of the season, or if he loses a bit of the focus and drive now that he has accomplished what so few others have done before. Could go either way.

Not really fair to leave Bobby Jones off the list. Had there been a Masters he would have won it, no doubt, but more indelibly, he's instrumental in there being an Augusta National and The Masters.

It’s not though. Scottie’s still #1 in data golf rankings and it’s weighted more heavily to recent events. He’s on a large upward trend, however.

I really don’t care what data golf says. He is the current best golfer

Rory’s last 14 tourneys:
T11
T9
2
2
T25
T3
1
T4
1
T17
T15
1
T5
1

3 of those wins are masters, players, pebble

4 out of 14 tournaments are wins

I don’t really care either way but this is hilarious coming from you.

You’d absolutely pounce calling someone an idiot and go on and on about it and likely write a manifesto if someone else uttered this sentence

Why? It’s only a system. A good one, but it’s just a metric that spits out data, like the BCS. It isn’t the end all be all

Rory’s the current best golfer in my opinion and the stats I just posted support my opinion

Frankly, for Bryson, it's not the format but rather his iron play finally caught up to him. Didn't want to get over my skis after yesterday, but he was really hitting it like shite all day yesterday and managing to get the ball in the hole from everywhere. That really isn't sustainable at Augusta.

I just didn’t think he’d hit it that shitty 2 days in a row, but not only did he do that, he hit it worse today than yesterday. When he was only 2 back at the conclusion of play yesterday, with how well rory played and how bad Bryson played, I thought they’d both come back to the mean giving Bryson the advantage. Especially with Rory’s recent history in those pressure cooker moments

It makes me wonder if Bryson is going to re-look at the single length irons. His Datagolf page is kind of wild - it's just green almost everywhere (especially SG OTT, where it is way in the green) except SG Approach where there is a lot of red. He was 51st out of 53 who made the cut in SG Approach this year, and he was truly awful last year at the Open. He is so good off the tee and so good on the greens that it makes up for it in a lot of places including Augusta, but he has the talent to get on another level, and he needs to do something there.

I think courses with a lot of undulation, sidehill / downhill / uphill lies, elevation change, weird angle and lies, etc. give him a lot of problems with the irons, probably at least in part due to the single length approach. His SG Approach results in the Masters over the last four years really are shite: -1.64 in True SG in 2022, -0.99 in 2023, +0.68 in 2024, and -0.69 this year. That's really bad for what is otherwise one of the very best players in the world.

For comparison, Scottie is +1.64, +1.89, +0.96, and +0.83 in that same time period. Morikawa is +1.52, +0.93, +1.53, and +1.55. Rory - who probably wasn't a truly complete ball-striker and shot-shaper until the last few years - is +1.01, -1.26, +0.27, and +2.51.

Bryson doesn't even have to hit his irons exceptionally well to put himself at or near the top - he was +1.30 True SG Approach last year at Pinehurst and +0.98 last year at Valhalla. Good, but not exceptionally so (like +1.50 - 2.50).

People have been questioning this for a decade, so I doubt it. He went out of his way to credit his longer wedge on the bunker shot at pinehurst too so I wouldn’t count on it.

But you’re absolutely right. We know he drives the piss out of it, and incredibly straight too, and is world class with the putter.

When his irons are on, he’s unquestionably in the tier with Scottie and Rory
