quote:

However, players “should” stand for the anthem, according to the league’s game operation manual.

“Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem,” Goodell wrote. “It is an important moment in our game,” Goodell wrote. “We want to honor our flag and our country, and our fans expect that of us. We also care deeply about our players and respect their opinions and concerns about critical social issues. The controversy over the Anthem is a barrier to having honest conversations and making real progress on the underlying issues. We need to move past this controversy, and we want to do that together with our players.”

Link to me predicting the sullying of the NFL's reputation and calling for Goodell to take action. People thought the NFL was invincible

Apparently, the right wing boycotters actually hit the NFLs wallet........

So many in here told me nobody would actually stop watching......

I never claimed I was going to boycott but I can tell you what I have done this year

I watch my teams game and thats it.

I used to watch games all day Sunday and both the Monday and Thursday night games. I just stopped doing that because of the noise.

Im sure thats happening a lot too

That's a better tactic, because I don't recall ever saying the boycott wouldn't affect the NFL.

first, he and a few other owners get everyone on board that they need to show unity with the players against the president and issue statements of support for the players who kneel.

so then that backfires and he says "hey maybe we should stand"

yeah, no shite roger.

Roger Goodell would go around lynching asian children if it was fiscally advantageous to the NFL.

They have done the research and found out they are losing money because of the players actions and the NFL response.

This is simply a correction to that failure.

I bet advertisers are getting squeamish about durable goods consumers not watching or watching less.... which in turn gets the league's attention.
