“Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem,” Goodell wrote. “It is an important moment in our game,” Goodell wrote. “We want to honor our flag and our country, and our fans expect that of us. We also care deeply about our players and respect their opinions and concerns about critical social issues. The controversy over the Anthem is a barrier to having honest conversations and making real progress on the underlying issues. We need to move past this controversy, and we want to do that together with our players.”

• I don't think that from Goodell's or the NFL's perspective the bold is true. His handling of this controversy isn't consistent with this statement. Shocker as he has been pro player and anti-Trump in his defiance.

• The underlined portion is the only truth in the whole paragraph. He is almost begging in bowing before at least 1/2 of the NFL's fan base as well as Trump.

I never claimed I was going to boycott but I can tell you what I have done this year

I watch my teams game and thats it.

I used to watch games all day Sunday and both the Monday and Thursday night games. I just stopped doing that because of the noise.

Same here but really haven't watched the saints.

Funny to see the backing down from the NFL

That's a great post.

However do think that you are mistaken, I remember strong back agreeing with me on this issue before the trump shite even happened. He may have changed his stance but he agreed that you shouldn't promote your agenda while wearing your employers uniform

It is absolutely baffling to me that this guy makes $34M a year. I mean out of all the incompetence, he is making almost twice as much as the very best players
