Would putting a team in Toronto kill Buffalo?
Buffalo and Toronto in the same division could be fantastic.

While the NFL may not have the international reach the NBA and MLB have, it is far and away the most popular sport in the US...which is the most lucrative marketplace in the world. Foster that rather than working to, eventually, dilute your product. The NFL is already taking more and more home games from fans to play all over the world.

This potential move by the NFL, as well as basically every single thing that ESPN does, is based around three driving beliefs:

1. Businesses must grow year-to-year to be successful.

2. American males, as a group, are saturated as a sports market. Every American male that is going to be a sports fan is already a sports fan, and no amount of advertising or pandering to them will make any appreciable difference.

3. Therefore, the only way to grow a business in the American sports market is to increase appeal to demographics other than American males.

Extend the season by 1 week, start on the same week as college football. Stay at 17 games, make all thursday night football games “international night”, both teams come off their by week. Don’t start thursday football until week 4 or 5. Don’t expand the league, don’t weaken the league. This increases the quality of Thursday night games and gives you that international presence without the commitment, if the fans stay around, expand in 15 years.

I feel like the playoffs would be a clusterfrick travel wise.

To consider Europe you'd have to start with 4 teams so they can have their own division for travel purposes.

Imagine the advantage the home team will get in cross-Atlantic games.

Damn the fans!

Just respawn NFL Europe. Barcelona Dragons v. Frankfurt Galaxy and Rhein Fire v. London Monarchs doubleheader.

Have NFL teams designate up to three players to develop, à la La’Roi Glover.

They’d probably want to arrange it so they play 3 straight road games each time they travel to the U.S., then 3 straight home, etc., so they only make 3 trans-Atlantic trips per season. But don’t know how well being gone from home 3 straight weeks would sit with the NFLPA.

They will need their own inflated version of the salary cap to be able to entice players to come there. Won’t get any free agents unless they significantly overpay

Mexico lol, yeah let's put a team in a country where you have to have armed security just to go to the gas station, especially if you have money..

I get why they would want one............ money. But an all world league is pretty wild. I understand Canada, with teams so close to the border.

Can't we start a Euro NFL league or something? Anything other than a Canada/Mexico team is asinine.

A lot of Mexicans like American football.

London seems absurd with the travel, especially west coast teams.

I don’t see Toronto getting a team with Buffalo right across the border. Toronto supports the Bills faithfully. Montreal would be cool if they got one.

So last Saturday I am at a Mexican restaurant and I notice the “Frankfurt Galaxy” playing the Munich Ravens. The QB has Calzada on his jersey. Zack? Nah, I think, this must be an old replay up until the next kickoff which is the new NFL version.

Sure enough - they have a league going
