Jeter's been more valuable for getting to the playoffs, to be sure. But in the postseason, Rivera has been ridiculously great. And if we're crediting a guy for winning those World Series, postseason performance weighs really heavily. Hell, even without those wins Jeter added, don't the Yankees make the postseason anyway.

gotta be jeets. and i think DJ2 is one of the most over rated players/people of all time.
mo was completely amazing every time he got the chance, but if he only pitches 5 innings in a 7 game series, he has limited value. jeter plays all 35 innings. back in the late 90s when they were winning all those titles, they had great set up men for the 7th and 8th innings. you cant tell me those guys couldnt have done pretty good slamming the door all the way shut opposed to leaving the 9th for rivera.

Jeter's career WAR almost doubles Mo's.
WAR is a terrible stat to judge relief pitchers since the difference between Mariano and average most years is only worth a 2 wins or so

think of the times mariano failed... it was so shocking to everyone.
the fact that he's kept the closer job in the NY cauldron for a generation should tell you all you need to know

Most years Jeter wasn't even a top 2 player in his own infield
