Met him a few years ago. Just imagine Sam Elliot in "We Were Soldiers" as an all-american safety and HOF Punter.

Man, that sucks. He was a terrific weapon for the Raiders. Just hard to stomach all of the guys from my childhood passing.

Ray Guy's Punt Hits Gondola
The Pro Bowl was once played in the Louisiana Superdome. One of Guy's booming punts hit a contraption that hung from the ceiling at mid-field. It was raised after the game.

Actually, he punted it.

There can be little debate about who the GOAT punter is. Imo Jerry rice is the greatest we ever and it’s not close. The same cam be said for Ray Guy.

He was the greatest punter ever.
He perfected punting.

His brother was my dentist when I was at Texas A&M. I did some summer painting at his house and he had all kinds of NFL memorabilia. Pretty nice folks.

He went to high school in Thomson GA, a small town only about 10 miles from where I live. This is sad to hear, RIP Ray

Five years later, Guy was back in the Superdome for a little game called Super Bowl XV against the Philadelphia Eagles. By kickoff time, the gondola had been raised an extra 50 feet in the air. n
I smell some serious BS with this comment..
No way there's 50' between the gondola and the ceiling.

I'm from Thomson, what town are you in?

What did Ray know about the Southern Miss volleyball court renovations?

A punt is not a kick?
There’s a discernible difference in American football. I was just dicking around, like the poster I quoted was.
