He was a key assistant to Bobby during the 14 year run and had success early with Philip Rivers at NC State

RIP Chuck The Chest

Never been an NC State fan, some of the worst fans in the ACC, but Chuck Amato always seemed like a cool dude. RIP.

The Joe Pesci of CFB. I always remember the flashy shades he had going back to the FSU days.

I hated playing NC State as .much as any team on our schedule after he left FSU. He was a hell of an LB coach and recruiter in the 90s for Bobby

Damn. Did he have a malformation in his chest ? Extra ribs ? Addicted to dumbbell flyes ?

Only memory I have was him choking away that 2003 game vs #3 Ohio State. Had like 3rd and an inch and tried two QB sneaks with Philip Rivers on 3rd and 4th down and didn't get it. In the post game interview he was asked and said "well Philip is 6'5 so we thought if he just fell forward he would get it"(the first down)

I went to a couple of his camps at NC State. Curt Cignetti was my QBs coach for a 1/2 day lol. I think Manny Diaz was on staff too at the time.

Amato was a polarizing figure and hard not to like and respect

The only double digit win season in NC State history was brought to you by Chuck Amato. RIP Coach.
