re: Revisiting the "Miami-Miracle" again with new eyes (Why was Gronk playing Free Safety?)

I believe this worked twice vs Denver

That's kind of simplifying it, it was a blizzard and he chose the side instead of ball because the wind was so crazy.

Another question I have is why did Gronk look so doggone unathletic. He easily could have made the play but he was too busy tripping all over himself.
Yup. Easily made the play IF he was healthy. OR...if he were actually trying. WAS he??
Now if you're the coach, do you really remove one of your best and quickest tacklers (McCourty) -- for a injured, slow lumbering Gronk?
End Zone vid
Check out this End Zone vid from a fan who gets a great ground level shot of the play and of Rob Gronkowski moving in slow-mo (at regular speed, lol.) Track the ridiculous angle he takes and the unbelievably absurd effort and WWE dive he takes on his "tackle" (coming no closer than 5 yards away from the runner as he skated by EASILY.)

Yes, the shadow cartel rigging the NFL games wanted the conference title to go through KC so they could rig that game against KC. Maybe the official that threw the offsides flag forgot who was supposed to win.
Whomever scripted things out preferred a KC venue. Ordered it like a burger and fries. And got it. Along with the usual dramatic, crazy endings there as well.
Nope, nothing to see there on that convenient "Off-Sides, Kansas City!" and *almost* INT that would have seals the game for the AFC Chiefs.
Funny how Brady and Patriots always seemed to get the Ref's call, or plays set up to go exactly as needed. Same happened during Brady's first year in Tampa Bay.
Move along. Nothing to see at all either on the Pats' win because of the "Tuck Rule" game. OR, the 28-3 comeback win vs the Falcons. OR the win because of Russell Wilson's ridiculous goal line INT instead of the GW run. Or any number of Brady comebacks.
Sometimes things even go the OTHER way as in Miami. Even Hulk Hogan can't win all the time. Always helps to have a bit of extra insurance.

There’s like 3-4 of those kind of games that BB has just sort of thrown away for no particular reason. He had another one in Miami in like 2015 I think...
I noticed that too. Every so often Belichick would act as though he were playing with House Money and "donate" a game here and there. (Miami seems to get a gift game pretty often - like that Fitz-Magic game.)

Hell they did the same thing with Randy Moss multiple times.
Right; But Randy Moss was healthy. Spry. And could leap and run like a gazelle.
Gronk in this case? Anything but.

Yeah that part of the decision isn’t a big deal except that particular season Gronk was basically a half broken car and nowhere near athletic/healthy enough to be out there. There’s a reason he retired for 2019. Guy was beat to shite by that game.

Sadly as a dolphin fan this might have been the most enjoyable win the last 10 years :(

For the jump ball Hail Mary

How can anyone in the Dolphins front office look at those uniforms and still go "nah what we have now is better."

I have followed the raiders since the Bo Jackson era. The Tuck Rule was no conspiracy by the NFL, it was a little known rule. And unfortunately, it was the correct call. Had he fumbled a half second later after successfully tucking the ball back into his body, it would have been a fumble.

Offsides, Kansas City
Funniest thing about this is that the flag was thrown before the ball was even thrown. DE is lined up in the neutral zone, ref standing right there down the line in plain view of the camera, had his hand back on the flag and threw it as soon as the ball was snapped. CONSPIRACY! I bet the Chiefs DE was in on it. Wake up, sheeple.

Randy wasn't tackling anyone

At least you're consistent in making every subject you post seem like a wackjobs newsletter.

It’s not hard to put together the logic behind Gronk being out there. He’s the most dominant red zone threat in the history of the game. He’s the biggest, tallest, pass catcher on both rosters on a pass that was theoretically supposed to be thrown into the endzone on a Hail Mary. It makes perfect sense as to why he was out there.
