mean, it wouldn't be very smart to build a 50,000 seat stadium when you struggle to get 10,000 in attendence.

To be fair if you’ve ever been to Tampa, the Trop is in a terrible location convenient to nothing in Tampa proper. Building in Ibor would be a huge boost for fans in Tampa proper.

Hey, great for Tampa fans and taxpayers, if they are stupid enough to do it. I don’t know why a municipality wouldn’t ask for an ownership stake in return for their dollars. Owners cash out, muni gets a return on their investment and all walk away happy.....except for the shitty owner who wants all profits, concessions, tax exemptions and real estate afforded to him by holding taxpayers hostage in the first place.

Revolutionary idea..

Arlington sells the carcass of Globe Life to the Rays, minus the upperdecks and all outfield seating. Rebuild it near the bay with a totally unobstructed view of the water beyond the outfield.

Whataburger Field style

Theres 0% chance this gets built after the Marlins stadium fiasco. It would make sense to keep them there, but they just dont have the support from the community. I'd be willing to be that they're playing in Vegas or Montreal by 2023.

Don't care if that roof is frosted glass or what, the heat and humidity in that place will be unbearable in the dog days of summer.

Nah. Too much legal hassle if the Rays try to vacate St Pete before 2027. They’ll find a workaround to move the team across the bay but they wont be as flexible if the team moves out of the market.

Never met a Rays fan in my life. Even spent a few days in Tampa and didn’t see one article of Rays gear

This won’t fix anything. Just look at the Marlins who still draw 5k a game. Florida people don’t care about pro sports.

Hell, look at the Miami Hurricanes football games

Was 30k until 2014.

Now have to avg 15k attendance at least every two years.

I'm fully aware, which is why I said that your initial post wasn't true.

I'm not sure where you got 2014 from, though. This rule was scrapped well before then.
