I think that it's tricky, we don't really know how well the Rays would draw with a nice stadium and a relocation to Tampa.

All we know is that Tampa draws 60K (91% full) for the Bucs, and that they are top 10 in the NHL attendance for the Lightning at 19K (100.2% full).

I think you have to estimate a decent gain from those 2 factors alone.

Hillsborough County (Tampa side of bay) has 1.2M people, median income is $46.7K
Pinellas County (St. Pete Side) has 920K, median income is $45.5K

Will slightly more than 300K ppl equal a higher average attendance? We will see...

They dropped the "Devil."

Can they drop the "Bay" as well? Seems stupid.

Its a great idea. Anyone with half a brain knows new stadiums with a prime loacation equals results. Fenway and Wrigley are an exception to the rule because cathedrals that are upgraded sell tickets. Tampa has more baseball fans than people think. Ybor city would definitely work.

Looks good. So it looks like the water tank behind the wall won’t be carried over to the new stadium.

the future of sports stadiums is going to be small, intimate venues that have crazy amenities and high ticket prices. TV experience is killing the nosebleed ticket market.

Can't believe the Rays about to get a new stadium before the Oakland A's. Tropicana Field is boring but it's nowhere near as dire as Oakland Coliseum. That stadium literally has raw sewage leaking into dugouts.

Tampa Bay equals Tampa st Pete Clearwater.
3 million.
Tampa is just 377,000.

Sf Bay equals sf, Oakland, San Jose and all the small pop counties on bay.
6 million customers.
Sf is just under 800k.

Bay lets millions identify with team.

Which one are we, dad?

because they arent the devil rays any more. they are "rays" as in rays of sun light

I thought it was supposed to be a double entendre not to mention that stadium design looking like a stingray isn’t an accident

Amazing how these dickheads want tax payers to fit the bill, give them no ownership, and want real estate rights. Then, sell the team for crazy profits.

Tropicana was built that way before the rebranding. They kept the name Rays because that was already how many people referred to them. They have kept some ties to the name devil Rays, but for the most part they've totally dropped it

Oh. Well then they are probably keeping it as a tie to the start of the franchise
