USC. Yes they are the University of Spoiled Children, but I like their fight song and the song girls and I have seen them play twice in person and I met Rodney Peete once and he is a nice guy.

Texas. I have friends who went there and I've been to Austin to see them play. Though since they are joining the SEC that could change.

OU. Have friends who went there.

Does that count as random?

If you want truly random school I have no connection to it would be Rutgers.

Purdue for basketball
Kansas State for football (always liked those Bill Snyder teams)

Denver for hockey
Fullerton for baseball.

Army.

It’s watching the last few remnants of what college football should actually be.

Those teams were fun as hell to watch in the 80s and early 90s.

They beat Texas, Ohio State, VaTech, Ole Miss, Mississippi State.

They were an outlier for the Academies. They could beat the big dogs.

For some reason, I like Washington St and Oregon St out west; I know they're usually terrible, play little brother to their counterparts (and are in crappy locations). For some reason, I like teams from Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, etc.

Wyoming

That's the team I'll randomly watch late fall. Usually there's a little snow flurry. The football just feels different.

Plus, I love Yellowstone, worked there one summer as a College student.

Got to know Wyoming... So, watching them on TV is like getting back to the state.

Hawaii, would always stay up to watch their late games full of nothing but passing and no defense

Also have a little bit of a soft spot for Michigan State because the first non-LSU game I ever watched was Michigan State beat Ohio State in 98, then we got Saban from them. Plus I grew up in Gonzales so a team called the Spartans like EA was easy to root for. Always pull for them against Michigan/Ohio State/Notre Dame

I always find myself rooting for Nebraska... love the history of their program and that N on the helmet just does it for me.

Minnesota because when I was a kid, a grad student that worked with my dad at A&M went there for undergrad and gave me a shirt.

Wisconsin because a friend’s kid is playing up there now, but I did like them before that.

Anyone who still runs a triple option offense either traditionally like Army and Navy, or spread like Coastal Carolina. I have an affinity for option football and strongly believe that it can be a viable offense in Power 5 football if someone would actually take the time to run it. Pull the damn trigger and hire Jeff Monken.

Paul Johnson had a few good years at GT with it. 3-6 bowl record though, it loses effectiveness when teams have many weeks to go all-in on preparing for it.

As a Catholic and general fan of college football tradition, I root for Notre Dame most of the time
