They make their money from the millions of fans watching at home driving ad revenue and buying their merchandise. Those fans are made through the experience of the NFL which they are closing off to the general public by pricing them out.

What a joke. I hope the price keeps skyrocketing and it’s half empty every game when it finally opens.

the majority of NFL fans across the country have probably never attended an NFL game in person or have only been to a couple. I don't think ticket prices really move the needle all that much as it pertains to merchandise sales, especially in a place like LA.

I still can't believe that cost 1.3 billion. It is an erector set on three sides, and then the suites. Even with the inflated land costs.

Building in LA is expensive as shite even in relatively open, crappy areas.

Even in athletic and explosive places on the southside?

That seems like a number that should scare the ever living hell out of them when it comes to the long term viability of the league.

The Chargers are the REAL winners in this deal.

If they are only servicing a part of the debt that means they are getting a brand new stadium at a fraction of the cost that the Rams are paying.

The chargers have to pay a $1 per year in rent, but the Rams will own the stadium, and keep a projected $50 million in stadium sponsorships, $10 million in parking, and another $10 million in concessions.

And probably lose all development real estate rights around the stadium.

as long as the stadium doesn't look as bad as the 49ers, for $1.3B it shouldn't look this cheap

Seriously, the new 49er stadium is an abomination in an unbelievably boring location. At least the new soccer stadium in that area has some personality to it.

Can only hope that the LA stadium is better than this one.

Low fan support drove teams out of LA now they have 2 teams sharing a 4 billion dollar stadium. I don't get it?

Sadly we’re past the golden age of the NFL. It’s just becoming a lot less fun and a lot more expensive. It’s losing personality and passion. College football is headed there too.

Good Job NFL. NFL was a dying breed not being in LA all these past couple decades.

In my opinion, it's a bit of a risky loan simply given where all the shite with brain injuries is going. That loan is gonna take a looooonnnngggg time to pay off, and if the revenue stream dies by any significant amount due to those issues, it'd be a problem.

Football stadiums should be bare bones and maximize capacity.

They use them for a ton more shite than just football, and maximizing capacity doesn't make sense because 40% of the gate receipts are shared with the other teams. The shite they generate in the stadium through suite sales, PSLs, etc etc they keep.

All about the TV dollars. They don't give a shite about fans in seats. They care about the LA TV market and selling overpriced luxury seats they pocket all the cash on.

At least college teams just renovate the current stadium. Stadiums aren’t “too old” and have to be replaced after 2 decades like the NFL.

Cause that's how you develop fan support.

NFL teams are more worried about making money than fan support at games. They don't make their money on the cheap seats.

It's short-sighted in my estimation.
