It's that time of year again. Rabalais spends the Advocate's money with a week at the Masters.

What the Advocate ignores is that everybody watches the Masters.....but not that many people care to read about it any more.

Rabalais isn't getting anything special by being there in person. The player interviews are all group interviews in the Augusta National media center. Plus, many of them can be seen on the Golf Channel.

I know a guy who used to cover the Masters. He explained that nobody in the media walks around and watches the golf. It's not a good use of time, because you could spend three hours following around one player and the guy could double-bogey and you've just wasted three hours.
Instead, my friend said, the media sits in the media center and watches the action on TV, just the way you and I do.

Oh, it's a great trip, no doubt. Ever try to price it?
I can't believe that in this age of newspapering the Advocate still thinks it needs to waste money (a few thousand dollars) on what amounts to a Rabalais free vacation.

No wonder they just raised subscription prices.

Why does it bother you? I know guys who get to take clients on hunting and fishing trips or have suite tix to LSU and Saints games. If they did not want to pay to send him, they wouldn’t

I guess I'd care if I bought the advocate, but it is 2022, and the Advocate is a newspaper. The only time I buy it is when i need to ship my brother frozen shrimp.

Not at all.

I've actually been to the tournament a few times.

My comment is more of a continuing rant on how poor of a job the Advocate tends to do.

Instead of wasting money on sending someone to Augusta, why does the paper invest some man hours into digging into the Will Wade charges? Talk to some people. Talk to some players. Talk to their families. You know, actually INVESTIGATE some of the charges, like a responsible media entity is supposed to do. Instead, the Advocate just waits around for the next press conference to be called.

There are good opinion columns waiting to be written on spring football, the QB battle, the baseball team issues, the softball team problem....lots of things.
Rabalais is supposed to be the paper's #1 columnist but he apparently has no sources anymore now that Alleva is gone and not feeding him Les Miles dirt. Think about it -- when's the last time Rabalais broke a story?

He and Michael Bonnet are probably sniffing around for free stuff, especially buffets, ergo “Buffet Rabalay”!!!

The cost of sending Rabalais to the Masters is crumbs to a newspaper. How much do you think the Advocate’s annual budget is? And how much do you think a Masters trip costs them?

They are keeping an important piece of their business happy with something that is insignificant in the long run.

OK, whatever.

Everybody on this shiitbag website bitches about LSU's media coverage, and here's a perfect example of how misguided the Advocate's leadership is, and it's me that gets down-voted?

Y'all miss the point entirely.
You attack Guilbeau. You attack Ron Higgins. You attack Moscona.

Excuse me for caring about how the LSU teams are covered.

Scott Rabalais going to the Masters for his job has nothing to do with the Advocate’s coverage of LSU football. Nothing.
