always hate this dumb arse response

it was all of a year ago and we have no clue how many people she reported it to before it got to a civil suit and those don't happen in a matter of a few days, discovery process can take up to a year, at least in florida

2 other people listed in the suit (still can't find this story anywhere) and he's an effin rookie punter

Let there be a trial. If there is truth to these allegations let justice be served. If these allegations prove to be false, however, the woman's name should be made public so she can receive duly deserved ridicule and shame. Then...throw her arse in jail.

Matt Araiza, 22, whose powerful and precision kicking in college earned him the moniker “Punt God,” was accused of having sex with the minor outside the home and then bringing her inside to a room where she was repeatedly raped. The lawsuit, filed in San Diego County Superior Court, alleges the then-high school senior went in and out of consciousness but remembers moments as the men took turns assaulting her.

quote:

Attorney Marc Xavier Carlos, who is representing Ewaliko in an ongoing criminal investigation of the incident, said he could not comment on the lawsuit and that he was still investigating what transpired. He said his client is no longer at San Diego State. Attorney Jamahl Kersey, representing Leonard, said he had not seen the lawsuit and could not comment. He noted that a criminal investigation is ongoing and said no conclusions about his client should be drawn.

The lawsuit comes as San Diego State faces ongoing criticism after a Times investigation found that the university decided not to alert the campus community about the alleged gang rape and waited more than seven months to launch its own investigation.

i’d be shocked if he has six figures to his name. Pretty sad that some of y’all read the headline, skipped the story and went straight to calling an underaged girl a greedy liar

The criminal case has been proceeding and the investigation was handed over to the DA.

The civil suit just came out today, days after he made the team.

I mean waiting a year for the civil suit seems normal when there’s a pending criminal investigation open

It seems like there is this misconception that if they've gone the civil route it's because they couldn't prove a criminal case. Ongoing investigation, and evidence revealed during the civil case can help the criminal case.

Since the school drug it's feet doing anything about it, she might have been advised to go ahead with a civil suit to at least get it out in the open.

It’s clear this was known about by teams. It is makes sense why he dropped in the drsft and actually had other punters taken ahead of him

he’s a six round draft pick who has yet to receive a game check. I’m honestly surprised she hasn’t sued the school yet, since it sounds like they covered for the players
