To be fair, she reported it the next day to SDPD

You are speaking to an attorney, so I think he has a pretty good idea….

My comment wasn't directed at the potential guilt or innocence, just the timing of the lawsuit.

She reported the next day. If a whole bunch of people hadn't been shitheads, he never would have had money to begin with. One can certainly understand why she and her family might feel a bit slighted that her rapist got his criminal investigation pushed to the back burner and as a result was given a shot at generational wealth.

Easy problem for the Bills to solve. Cut him and let the criminal justice system and the civil suit play out. Punters are not hard to find. Shame on the Bills for wasting a draft pick on a punter.

Nah, don’t cut him. He is absolutely a game changer for his position. Make the league suspend him but don’t cut him. Makes no sense to. Can easily sign a punter like Haaka back the week of if needed

She didn’t file suit for monetary damages until now. I didn’t say the validity of her suit was suspect due to the timing of her filing. I’m aware she reported it to LEO right after it happened.

Rape prosecutions take a long time. They’re very hard cases to prosecute. Because it’s taken this long does not mean her case was pushed to the back of the pile. My client’s husband raped a girl. She reported it the next day. Filed for an Order of Protection 2 days after that. It took 8ish months before the DA presented it to the GJ.

You’re talking about a gang rape here. A lot more involved. They take a long time because the DA doesn’t want to frick up the prosecution.

Probably not looking good if multiple people involved, someone will talk. The very wise Patrice O’Neal once said: Do your dirty by your loney

If true, that's a felony by itself.
Obviously if he raped her, then this is rather moot. But for the sake of the argument, what if he just had consensual sex with her and didn’t know her age. If this was at a college party, in October (so a couple months into the semester), I think most people would assume a person was at least 18, and I’ve never heard of anyone asking for identification to verify someone’s age before hooking up in college.

The statute of limitations for injury to persons in California is 2 years. This allegedly happened less than a year ago.

This week, Buffalo released their previous punter and signed this guy (presumably).

The same week, this lawsuit dropped.

It's smart on the lawyer's part to wait until the defendant has reached his Mac earning potential rather than filing suit before that contract presumably was signed.

Maybe it's all a coincidence. Likely not. These and my previous comments are extraneous from the criminal proceeding that is allegedly before a DA/Grand Jury right now.

Have a great day.

Can the NFL punish a player for something that happened while the player was in college?

Civil suit is how you know it didn't actually happen.

Well of course.

Plaintiff doesn't want to sue someone who can't pay because he didn't make the team because of these allegations.

She's not interested in garnishing his Best Buy wages.

If people don't think the timing has nothing to do with this, they don't understand how Civil lawsuits work. Getting a judgement against someone is just a piece of paper. Colecting on said judgment is a whole other matter. Even Ron Goldman had a difficult time time collecting on OJ...because he burned through his money with his defense and hid his memorabilia.
