Will someone explain the playoff seeding process to me?... the preds currently hold the top wildcard spot... If the season ended today, would they be the 7 seed, even though they'd have more points than the pacific's 3rd place team?... or all all eight teams seeded based on total points?

the Preds would play the Ducks if the season ended today.

Division winner with most points plays WC with fewest points
Division winner 2nd in points plays WC with most points

then division teams 2-3 play each other.

Yeah I'd almost rather play Anaheim than the stars TBH. Barring injury to Holtby or Ovie, the caps have this wrapped up though....everyone else in the east is f'd

Starting to get really frustrated with AV behind the bench. Question for Habs fans: Was he this loyal to overpaid veterans in Montreal? Literally Marc Staal and Dan Girardi have had bad months this season without seeing a dip in playing time (other than being injured).

Yet Dylan McIlrath and JT Miller do one thing that rookies / 2nd year players tend to do and get their asses stapled to the bench / get scratched. I don't get it.

I like Dan Girardi a lot, but man... he has played like absolute dogshit every time I've seen him play recently. What is going on there? I don't want anything to spoil the potential Rangers-Isles series.

And don't look now, but the Atlantic is now crazy tight. The Bolts are at 82 pts with the Cats and Bruins tied at 81, right behind them. That could be a crazy finish in which you may want to finish 2nd, to avoid the potential 1st round series with the Penguins.

I never thought I would have said this a week or two ago, but the wings may actually be in danger of losing their playoff streak. They just aren't a good team right now

Habs win.

I can't believe what a quietly good season Alex Galchenyuk is having. 20 goals 21 assists. And 2 more goals tonight

Why would you rather play the team that's 18-1-2 since February?

Did you see this play?

Interesting that Staal did not play last night and a rookie last minute callup from Hartford played in his spot, with no noticeable dropoff on defense.

As for the Preds, yes, well aware that Anaheim is hot right now. Kind of like Hansel. That said during their ridiculous run 10 of those games have been won against non playoff teams. It's a toss up really as to who you'd rather play in terms of Dallas vs. Anaheim. Both have deep offense that can kill you. Both have suspect defenses that can kill them.
