Caps outplayed the Hawks in the first, but couldn't build a lead. The Hawks dominated the Caps in the 2nd, and went up 2-1. That was pretty much the story.

The Blackhawks are a great team, they were playing at home, and it was a 12 noon start. Not really getting too worried over losing a one goal game on the road to the best team in the West. It was a fair result, but its not like the Caps played poorly or anything.

Stars hosting Detroit but you wouldn't know it looking at or listening to the game--at least 2/3 of the fans are wearing red and on both Detroit goals the place erupted in cheers.

And this is a Stars team that's contending for the #1 seed in the West.

Can the NHL finally admit that hockey in the South is a failure?

What a bs penalty against the Stars in OT. Wings score on the PP and take the OT win.

Why is it a failure that fans of the opposing team come to a game? Reality is that Dallas sells out 99% of their games. There are lots of transplants in Dallas. Also, the O&G economy sucks dick so a lot of locals probably can't afford to go all the time anymore. Here are teams that are in traditional markets that rank below Dallas in attendance:
- Philly
- Colorado
- Vancouver
- Buffalo
- St. Louis
- Ottawa
- New Jersey
- New York Islanders
- Columbus

Also Dallas has been atrocious at home lately, going 6-1 in their last 7 home games. Living in Nashville almost every game here is sold out. I see more Preds gear around town than I ever saw living in NYC.

Derek Ryan is making his NHL debut for the Hurricanes tonight at 29 years old, and scored a goal.

Last season he was the MVP of the Swedish league. He's from Spokane, WA.

Preds finally sticking it to the Stars. Not over with Dallas's attack but damn the Preds are playing great hockey right now.

It will be hard to overcome a 4-1 deficit. You got one, but Nashville has too much D and Dallas is playing b2b games

Don't mind quidam... he's been pushing the Stars to Seattle since at least 2012. Seriously:

And they are not a good team. They are below .500 since Jan 1.

unfortunately it's been trending down for quite some time. however, the playoffs are whole different animal. just need to get in, and stay healthy. then throw dice and pray

playing in the central is exhausting

Yeah it is. Unfortunate shot to the nuts on Kari last night. Hope that wasn't as damaging as it looked

They;ve bookended two terrible stretches around a 6-1 stretch. without that 6-1 run, they would be 4-10-5 in 2016. The problem, of course, is the defense. They should've backed up the truck for Hamhuis, someone who could really help them. Not only have the Stars not had a shutout all 2016, they've only allowed 1 goal one time. They have also allowed at least 4 goals in a game nine times (in 26 games).

They can't play defense. They need a lot more than a third pair defenseman in Russell.

Hey, Russell's a locker room leader..... a real character guy. Blocks a lot of shots. The Stars are this year's version of the Caps of years gone by.....without Holtby. It's not a terrible thing, you just can't win every game 3-2, sometimes you're going to lose 5-3.

Thought it would be more than that. They've given up a 3-goal period in like 8 out of the last 10 or 11 games or some crazy number like that,

Those big periods against them every single game has been killing them.
