Caps play in a different conference than the Hawks. If the Caps lose to the Hawks in the playoffs, I'll consider the playoffs a success for the Caps. It would suck at the time, but hard to get bent out of shape about losing in the Finals when you haven't been there and forever, especially if you lose to a team with multiple recent Cups.

Baloo you would be crushed if this Caps team lost in the Final. This isn't the Olie the Goalie type get to the Final run type team.

I'd be crushed when it happened, but after time, I'd view the season positively. This just in: the Blackhawks are real good. And they just got better at almost no cost.
I do feel bad Brooks Laich got traded. He was the longest tenured Cap and always a well-liked guy in the city. He even once changed a lady's tire the day after a brutal playoff loss. He was the perfect hockey player, off the ice.
He just costs way too much money and he sort of sucks now. So, getting rid of his contract is a coup. Getting a player back is just gravy. Still, I feel bad that I feel happy we got rid of him, if that makes sense. He seems like a good dude, and he went from the best team in the NHL that he's played for for a decade to a team that's going nowhere, and he's likely not in their longterm plans.

I'm going to miss Brooks. Just such a likable person. I loved catching him on the Junkies every Wednesday. That contract was terrible though. Best of luck to him.

Deadline was mainly a bust. No major deals except maybe Stempniak to Boston. Vancouver couldn't unload Hamhuis nor could TB get rid of Drouin. So, who didn't get traded is probably the biggest news.
