The 2011 postseason was absolutely arse.

LSU exorcised their demons in the same building 8 years later, but I really feel for Oklahoma State. They haven’t been close since.

While we almost assuredly would have beaten them they didn’t deserve to lose their title shot because of an overtime loss right after the entire women’s basketball team was killed.

At the time I didn’t understand but once I got to college I realized how close the major athletes are - they never should have had to play that night and the loss certainly shouldn’t have been held against them when the won every other game handily.

Mizzou-Auburn 2013

Our team scores 42 points. But because we can’t figure out how to handle Auburn’s blocking scheme, we allow more points to Auburn than any other team that year. If we just held them to their season average (39ppg) Missouri wins and is playing FSU in the National Title game

I love Mizzou but that was typical

Hawaii 10, UGA 41 in the sugar bowl

Since that game they’ve never been able to recapture the hype. Their QB was even crying.

not really. alabama had one one championship since 1992 before that game. lsu had two.

On 1/9/12, both teams had won two national championships since 1990. Alabama had won 8 national championships since 1960 to LSU's two. Alabama was thought of as a blue blood, consistently ranked in the Top 3 all-time, while LSU was thought of as "just" a solid program.

Definitely WVU vs Pittsburgh. WVU has still been able to stay in the top 25 more seasons than not since then though but it could be a long time before they get a shot like that at the national championship.

For Syracuse, in 1999 we were ranked 16th and got crushed 62-0 by Michael Vick and the #4 Hokies. That loss started the program's spiral into the bottom tier team they are today.

The crippling blow was losing to LSU in the 2007 SEC Championship Game. Tennessee was never again remotely relevant in the Eastern Division race.

No, the point was their program hasn't done shite since that game. If that doesn't fit the thread then idk

kind of but not really

LSU has the title since 1/9/12 but they're still miles behind Alabama and that's defined their program as a result of 1/9/12

for Hawaii, a more appropriate loss in this thread would be one that keeps them out of something they expect to win regularly. No one would have beaten Georgia that night in the Sugar Bowl

This post and others like it are pretty off base.

LSU was getting arse handed to them long before that by Alabama. That loss was just more of the same.
Most of you on this board hardly remember anything prior to 2000.

I won't defend Miles. He openly supported the rematch. In the immediate aftermath of the GOTC, he said "I would be honored to play [Alabama] again." He also ranked Alabama ahead of Oklahoma State in his final Coaches' Poll ballot.

Any others?

Michigan App St 2007 (and OSU 2006). They lost a #1 v #2 game against OSU in 2006 to miss out on playing for the national title. Then they lost as a top 5 team to FCS the following season and have been mired in mediocrity ever since after being in the thick of the national title hunt most years the decade prior to the 2007 season, winning a title in 1997. They have now lost 15 of 16 to OSU and that one win being when OSU had just been placed on probation, and they barely won

Someone please explain to me how you figure lsu would have beaten Oklahoma state the night of 1 9 12

Alabama was the only team that was beating LSU that year. They were the only team that had the kryptonite to slow LSU down. Besides the 9-6 win over Alabama in the regular season, LSU physically whipped everyone they played. A soft-arse Big-12 team wasn't going to be an issue.

I'll be dead honest that while watching Clemson manhandle us in the 2018 NC game I thought, "This looks an awful lot like a program-killing loss."

Fortunately I was wrong.

There is no such thing as a program killing loss so long as Nick Saban is still the head ball coach at Alabama.
