I think the Colt McCoy Texas/Bama game broke Texas.

I would have agreed had LSU not pulled off 2019.

This was the most soul crushing loss I've ever seen for any program. Besides the fact that WVU would have steamrolled Ohio State for a national title, that game had a long lasting domino effect that changed college football history.

This game ended the rise of the WVU program and they have never been the same since. They're the kind of program who needs a perfect storm to come together to be in the national title mix and everything fell into place for them that year.

Eh...everyone knew they were way overmatched.

this would be a pretty bad one, but 2019 was the GOAT season and nobody cares about 1/9 anymore

Nothing's beating Michigan vs. App State

Nebraska against either Colorado or Miami might be another. That was The End.

Are saying like a program never recovered from it

Both seemed to bounce back pretty well after

It was their best season ever, so nothing since has been close to as good.

Texas vs Nebraska 2009 Big 12 title game, Nebraska has been broken since then.

The game was insane the night going into it, leaving was the most depressing sporting event ive ever been too.

WVU still drubbed OU after than and beat the dog shite out of Clemson a few years later. The transition period the first few years in the Big 12 were rough but WVU has been fine.

yeah but we’re still talking about 1-9-12. One great year for LSU hasn’t put a dent into the Alabama dominance since then

This was the case up until 2019. It took 8 years to rebound.

Michigan vs. App. State immediately came to mind.

Georgia's trifecta against Alabama (2012 SECCG, 2017 NC, 2018 SECCG) has mentally mindfricked that team possibly beyond repair. Every time they play Alabama now, it is 14-0 before the game starts.

I feel like there was a huge shift in the SEC after LSU beat Tennessee in 2001

For Tennessee it’s the 2001 SEC Championship against LSU. Program was never the same after that loss.
