have always preferred CFB to the NFL, but to act like CFB is way more entertaining is a joke. Outside of a few really good games most of the college games are a school playing trash can or playing in some conference game that no one cares about.
I think the take away is that you can find an interesting matchup throughout the day. Of course 40 games are going to be crap, but the other 10 will be entertaining, and you're unlikely to get 10 entertaining games on a Sunday.

That's a fair point. It just seems like everyone's jumping on the NFL these days. The NFL is no different than CFB, NBA, or MLB. All leagues have garbage games going on.

I'm a fan of both and it helps both of my teams are good. I'd say college is a bit more exciting to me because of the potential upsets as well as the offense. You can say the NFL is geared towards offenses however many of these teams just aren't that exciting for me to watch personally. The two teams last night, 49ers Jets Bills, Rams, Colts etc

I readily admit I've never been huge NFL fan. When I was playing fantasy I watched everything I could find, but when I stopped, my interest fell significantly.

didn't think the CFP Final was good?
I wouldnt use the CFP just yet. Only 3 of the 9 playoff games have been competitive

i've never done the FF thing, mainly because i wouldn't want to be in the situation of having to hope a guy on a team i dislke does good, which may mean that the team would do good too, but i've never been a huge NFL fan either.... love my Saints, and will always watch their games, but watching a game between 2 teams i have no vested interest in, yeah, ain't likely to happen...
if i'm at a restaurant or bar, and it's on in the background, maybe i'll keep tabs, but i'm not going to set my dvr to watch Buf vs. Cle just because it's football...

I've had a hard time getting into either the last few years.
There were some fantastic games last year.
Both of the last two National Championships were awesome.
Clemson vs Louisville.
Rose Bowl.

I can hardly watch a full NFL game anymore unless i put a few bucks on it... too many long periods during the game where NOTHING happens.

Is it really? I've had a hard time getting into either the last few years. Saban is sucking all the air out of the room.
Yeah this. There's like 5 teams that can compete for a Natty.
People say the Pats are boring and dry...well Saban is college football's version of boring and dry. His teams aren't even enjoyable to watch - it would be one thing if they were winning SMU old school style or Miami Hurricans style - but his teams are as dry and emotionless as paint and lack characters or personality.
Back to back to back years...it's Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, FSU...
We've had 4 teams just rinse and repeat every year.

Even when they lose, Alabama shows no emotion.
It's "okay, back to my draft status" - this was a business trip.
Dude you're in college, show some emotion! Care about the game more than how Saban is going to get you into the NFL.
It's like Cal at Kentucky...it's just lottery players who don't give a crap but getting to the next level. I bet half of Bama's players would spend 1 year "in school" if the NCAA and NFL allowed it.

I genuinely prefer NFL to college. The quality is litteraly 500% better. So much bs happens in college football that is practically impossible to pull off in the NFL

I'd have the same opinion if I were an Arky fan.

I don't understand why the NFL plays 10 games at 1 EST and then 3 games at 4PM EST. WTF? The late games are almost always terrible unless Dallas or Atlanta is playing in one.
This along with the ridiculous NFL penalties are my biggest gripe. Of course I still watch the NFL for betting and fantasy purposes, but its really hard to get excited for the late afternoon game slate when you only have 3 games and its usually teams like the rams, 49ers, and san diego playing. There should be at least 4 afternoon games to go along with the 6 or 7 noon games.

Even the Boise st game last night was more fun to watch than Houston cincy
Posted on 9/15/17 at 7:48 pm to RollTide1987
I've said it before several times... I'll watch almost any college football.
Can't really watch any NFL outside of the Steelers. Slowly losing interest there too.
Too much politics and ticky tack penalties in the NFL.

NFL football is far too much of a sanitized, sterile, corporate product these days.
College football still actually has a little bit of passion and emotion left in it.

1. It's already been talked about here, but eliminate all the unnecessary commercial breaks during the games.. they're already making a frickton of money, why be greedy and take in more when you know this BS drives the fans crazy
i don't think this will ever change.

2. Get rid of the Thursday night games.. the London games should be waxed too, or at least figure out a better way to schedule these games... maybe play in Canada or Mexico or something, I dno
the Thursday games aren't good games usually cause they feature a crap matchup. I didn't watch a snap of Hou-Cin last night and I doubt I'll watch much of SF-LA Rams next week although the Rams seem to be improved so maybe I'll watch some.

3. Relax the rules on the defense a little. Yes I understand they are concerned about player safety (lawsuits), but it's a little annoying when you're watching your team on D, and everytime there is an incomplete pass, or the QB gets touched, you have to hold your breath and pray that there isn't a penalty.. too many drives are kept alive because of bullshite penalties
exactly. Some of these penalties can kill serious momentum after a defense has forced a stop. Then come to find out there was illegal contact on the other side of the field that had nothing to do with the play.
The crew for the Vikings-Saints game last Monday was fricking brutal. Calls hurt both sides and I just shook my head.
I think the NFL is suffering because of the lighter practices paired with overzealous refs in some cases. And in other cases refs who have to make a tough call on a play that is simply happens to fast to really decipher what happened. Like when the ball carrier braces for a hit (usually lowers head) and ends up meeting the defender almost head-to-head a lot of times when that might not have been the aiming point the defender was going for. Its been amazing to watch what was once a awesome product turn into some artificial form.
We still get to see some awesome plays and sometimes the refs let the players play but lately I haven't gotten that feeling. I guess the beginning of the season is just shitty like that now mostly. Not saying things will turn around or anything but I feel like the flags taper off "some" as the year goes. Maybe I'm wrong though? Probably.
